"Delay of ambulance also responsible for father's death" -- Kane says

Wedisingha's son, Kane Wedisingha expressed his ideas to the media in a most sensitive way about his father the incident of which shocked the entire field of motor cycling in Sri Lanka, in this manner.

"I also engage in racing. I did so in Sri Lanka too for 5 years. I was involved in racing in Japan too. I tell these
things by being well-informed. It's true that father is lost ... I admit it. There wasn't protection here ... our father went for racing, knowing it. But they have told something different. But I know the truth. Organising arrangements were weak. There wasn't protection there. There was a delay of 30 minutes. There wasn't an ambulance. If that didn't happen ... father could have been saved. They tell other things ... tell lies. Why can't they tell the truth?"

By whom were the mysterious dog skulls found at Aralaganwila brought there?

Over 2000 skulls of dogs who have mysteriously died have been located at a garbage dump in Dambagahaulpatha area, in Dimbulagala, in Aralaganwila. It has been detected that apart from skulls of dogs there were skulls of goats as well. A suspicion has cropped up whether some people involved in a racket of dog meat have subsequently
acquired flesh of the dogs in this way and dumped the skulls removed from those dogs.

Transportation of these skulls are brought in vehicles and dumped here in this manner in the nights. Because of these carcasses the locality has become defiled and there is also a risk of spread of sicknesses. Aralaganwila villagers have engaged in a protest by blocking the main Maduru Oya - Polonnaruwa Road requesting an investigation into this matter, it was understood.

There is a rumour that these dog skulls are dumped here brought by tractors of the provincial council and news has circulated that a powerful politician in the area is behind this activity. As there is a possibility that a procedure of selling this dog meat by duping the public as items of other meat could be at the background in addition to this degrading act of dumping dog skulls, protestors have mentioned that attention should be focused soon by authorities concerned.

Shooting Iran parliament and Khomeini's tomb -- 2 dead

A group of armed gunmen had fired at the parliamentary complex stationed in
Iran's capital city of Teheran as well as the tomb of Ayatolla Khomeini. 3
persons have suffered injuries and a security officer had died in the shooting at the parliamentary complex. It has by now been confirmed that he had died as a result of shooting at the tomb of Khomeini. These two locations are situated 20 kilometres apart. An eye-witness has confirmed that he saw 4
persons entering parliamentary complex and that they were armed.

The religious leader Late Ayatolla Khomeini is considered to be the pioneer of modern Iran and his tomb is accepted as a holy place while an attack has been targetted there too as a warning alert to Iran, it is said. Attacks on both the parliament and the mausoleum simultaneously signify that it could have been executed on a planned-basis, it is believed.

Iran is considered as a country which strongly supports the Muslim Extremist Terrorist Group the latter of which has become a threat to the world and opinions have been observed to the effect that a group of people had carried out this attack directed by a necessity of the West as tit for tat for having opened fire and created a commotion near the parliament in London sometime back.

Highways -- Higher Education Ministers were linked so that it would be possible to go to campus by walking along roads

Minister Rajitha Senaratna was present for the media briefing in relation to the Cabinet Decision announcement on behalf of the SLFP and it was announced recently that as he was subject to criticism within the Party itself and the story that Dayasiri Jayasekera was appointed instead. But what actually had taken place was both of them were placed side by side as co-spokesmen and the meeting proceeding thereafter.

Though it was hoped that as a consequence of this difference the Cabinet media briefing would be
subjected to meaningful change, the 'entertainment' provided by both of them together at yesterday's media confrontation contributed to such hopes being shattered, political critics opined. This queer 'humour' emerged because of the response for questions posed concerning the Cabinet shuffle, by Correspondent Asam Ameen.

When asked 'why so many Ministers', Minister Rajitha once remarked that after the country was rescued from the war, since it was the prime motive of of the government to develop the country, there is no reason for not appointing a bigger number of Ministers. When it was questioned wasn't it an additional millions of money to be expended to maintain new Ministers, what Minister Dayasiri said was that in accordance with conditions of a joint government since ministerial portfolios have been reversed according to size, there are no extra Ministerial positions. Minister Rajitha also said that if at all one Minister would bring in a large investment to this country, that expenditure amounting to millions of money may sometimes be not taken into account.

When it was inquired why subjects of Foreign - Mass media both were taken in unison at a time when the Yahapalana had promised to bestow Minister portfolios in a technical perspective, at that juncture both Rajitha and Dayasiri had answered that query in a combined tone. Rajitha's response was that it was so done with the motive of securing wide propaganda for economic development handled by Finance Ministry. When the media questioned about the connection between Highways and Higher education, what Minister Rajitha Senaratna said in response was that one was 'Higher' while the other is 'Major'.  What Dayasiri Jayasekera said was that it was so done because it is necessary that to enter the campus, one must walk on the roads.

Sri Lanka managed to acquire 332 passing India's total of 331 in 48.4 overs. After winning the toss Sri Lanka however opted to take to the field and India scored 321 at the end of the 50 overs. Dhawan who scored a century scored 15 fours and a
six in his aggregate of 125. The 78 by Sharma and 78 by Dhoni gave a push to India to nurture India's innings. In favour of the Sri Lankan side Malinga and Lakmal secured two scalps while Thisara, Asela and Nuwan Pradeep clinched a wicket each. It was a special occasion where Nuwan Pradeep was able to get Koli's wicket for a duck. The Sri Lankan innings was built up on a sound footing right from the start and Kusal Mendis's 89 runs and Dhanushka's 76 and Kusal Perera's 47 contributed to that total in a big way; however Kusal had to leave the crease after an injury unfortunately. Matthews (52) and Asela (34) who increased run-getting rather rapidly towards the last few overs managed to bring Sri Lanka towards victory. The Man of the Match was Kusal Mendis.

Public support solicited to pay Nawaloka bill of deceased Prins, for 25 lakhs

At the time Prins Udaya Priyantha left us forever yesterday the hospital bill has amounted to about Rs. 2500000 and members of his family were able to have the dead body released from hospital with the hospital authorities obtaining a written request that the bill would be settled to Nawaloka Hospital within the space of a month.

President of Gayaka Gaika Sangamaya, singer Kirthi Pasqual has made mention on his Facebook
Page that the sum of Rs. 25 lakhs to remove the body of Prins Udaya Priyantha by his sister was an arduous task for her and that help is necessary in that connection. Kirthi reminds readers that an amount of about 125 lakhs was expended for hospital bills within a period of 2 years by selling lands and from public donations. It was said that they were pressed for money when the last dose of medicine had to be purchased from the pharmacy and thus rendered helpless when it was with the mediation of a Manager they were able to secure that last dose of medicine on behalf of Prins. As such, Kirthi has made a plea to render a helping hand in this instance by quoting the sister's bank account number as follows

Didn't fans love Prins enough? Talk about funeral house being isolated

Various news items frequently reported during the past months about Prins Udaya Priyantha who incidentally passed away day-before-yesterday. How various organisations, politicians took a hand in helping him when he was sick was mentioned in those reports. Even funds were raised for his medical treatment. However, it was a small crowd who visited Sudarshi to see his body from
yesterday to today, it is understood. Among them artistes too were few and far in between. Apart from chief officers of Sri Lanka Gayaka Gaikawange Sangamaya, others have not joined in when his body was being taken to his home in Elpitiya. If groups failed to turn up in Colombo, it would not increase in number any further at Elpitiya either.

The final rites are expected to be done there tomorrow Sunday (10) and the reason why thousands of his fans observing silence on this occasion is something that must be inquired into seriously. One criticism which surfaced at the time Prins was among the living and was on sick-bed was about burdening his expenses on others. Asking for aid after his death to foot the hospital bill from yesterday was another factor which came into criticism by some people. As Prins was not classified amongst the classical category, there may have been a split in those who offered their respects to the deceased. What really happened to Prins Udayantha who had an untimely death should be taken into thought of by all artistes as such.

Social media criticisms on Anura Kumara's son's wedding

A series of photographs in connection with the wedding of Kasun, son of JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayaka was for the first time released on a website belonging to a former member of the JVP. It was later published at most places in the internet and resulted in creating much dialogue.

In this connection much details were published in relation to Kasun and one opinion that was raised was that being educated at a private university which
was supposed to be contradictory to Anura Kumara's politics. Details that appeared therein spoke about information that Kasun operated as the chauffeur of Mr. Anura Kumara for a period of about 3 years and that he was employed at Mihin Lanka during the Mahinda regime and that after that company was invalidated, he switched over to Air Lanka. Subsequently that he entered into marriage with Lisa whom he happened to get to know there.

Numerous talks have scattered around about his education and reasons were quoted as securing employment through political reasons. Whatever it is, though Kasun Dissanayaka was quoted as Anura Kumara's son, it was exposed in this discussion that truly he was not born to Anura Kumara and that he was a son who was born to his wife of his earlier marriage. It was also revealed that Anura's wife was someone who was closely related to Anura. What was said at another place was that Kasun too was engaged in JVP activities, going on Anura's footsteps.

Nobody has tried to comment as to whether these revelations are true or false. Though keeping information about one's private life a secret is a part of JVP member's practice, it has been subjected to the challenge within the framework of modern media processes, it is to be seen. By now, the Facebook Page connected to Kasun has been deactivated.

Elder brother who came from Singapore becomes a prey to the train together with younger brother too while taking selfies on Kollupitiya railway track!

Two brothers of the same family who wanted to take a selfie at a rail-track in Kollupitiya area unfortunately ended up by being a prey to an oncoming train. They had wanted to take selfies with the sea in the background and the camera-phone was in the hands of the 25 year old elder brother while the 12 year old younger brother was stationed by his side, it was understood. These deaths had taken place at a time when others of their family
were watching them in action ... possibly because of the noise of the ocean and voices of those of their shouting had not fallen on their ears.

The elder boy who died is employed in Singapore and hails from Anuradhapura. It was only yesterday that he had come to the island for a holiday. Members of his family had come to Katunayaka in a van to escort him home and had even made a pleasure trip around Colombo. After treading the sea waters on the shore for a short time they had afterwards moved towards Kollupitiya Railway Station. It was after that this tragic moment dawned. The victims were Theekshana Lakshan Ranaweera (12) the younger brother and Sashi Ranaweera (25) the elder brother.

Members of the family have given evidence saying that they saw how the train was approaching close and that though they had shouted out about the impending danger the two brothers had not heard their shouts. It was reported that the elder brother was keen to see his 12 year old younger brother and for that very reason in order to make him happy he had gone around various locations in Colombo and clicked selfies. Whatever it is, the elder brother who was in a hurry combined with the fatigue experienced on the flight may have lost concentration at that particular moment and thus had become a prey to the train, members of the family say. Kollupitiya Police are conducting further inquiries.

TRC / Telecom investigating about phenomenon of anonymous calls from an overseas telephone number

Telecommunications, Regulations Commission (TRC) and Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) on instructions of Minister of Digital and Infra-structure are engaged in conducting an inquiry regarding a 'missed call' received from an American telephone number by a large number of people who are using mobile phones in Sri Lanka, both day-before-yesterday and yesterday.

In the case of most people the call was cut before answering it and if he or she had tried to call back
to find out what that missed call was for, that person would have to face the consequences of getting connected to service for which a large sum of money was added to the person's telephone bill in such an instance, it was reported.

It would be revealed in the near future as to how data related to the owners of the Sri Lankan telephone numbers were secured. Whether there are local racketeers behind this or whether data available across software such as 'True caller' has been made used of as a base in this connection has come under suspicion. When installing Apps in mobile phones since one's telephone number and numbers of friends appearing in the phone are exposed and thus those being stored into a software thus utilising them in this sort of propagation activities is an action contradictory to the law.

This particular call activity is being operated by a group directed from America or the West Indies, evidence was revealed last evening, it was reported. The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission cautions the public to be vigilant about calls from overseas numbers.

My skin turned fair because of a cream ... can't tell the brand ... it's a secret -- Oshadi Hewamadduma

When victorious photos began to appear about tele-drama actress Oshadi Hewamadduma who claimed the 'People's Voice' crown in the Mrs. Top of the World beauty pageant, a new topic began to circulate within the internet about the special fairness of her skin. Various dialogues began to be created such as 'an inherited fairness from her generation', 'no ... an albino-type''no, this is a disease'. A reader from the Facebook had by way of fun asked her, "Who applied poty on the body?" This question was posed by a weekend newspaper too and the reply she gave in that respect was "Actually of
course I can't tell the name of the brand but I apply cream and if I say that it's not so ... then it's a lie because we are performing artistes; so beauty of course is so important no. Even if that's not so, I have shown a great interest over my beauty as a woman. I have toured many countries all over the world. I have travelled in about 20 countries. In the same way my husband also goes to countries. So if I come across a good brand I buy and bring it from those countries. At times those are not available in Sri Lanka.

So I am concerned about my skin because I have a dry skin. Therefore this thing called moisturizing is something essential for me most of the time. In the same way I get oil massages done. I take types of baths for my skin. On most occasions I treat my whole body with various external treatments".

Was Pakistan female Correspondent's selfie the root cause for Sri Lanka's defeat?

Yesterday's defeat in in the one-day match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka turned out to be a terrific heartache for Sri Lankan cricket fans. The reason for it is that on winning this match an opportunity which was available to enter the semi-finals but that opportunity was eclipsed. It was the opinion of most people that the Sri Lanka team had the chance of
preventing this defeat if not for the poor fielding displayed towards the last few overs of the game.

A forecast about this unfortunate defeat was forecast in advance across the internet. What was at the bottom of it was the trend where those who clicked selfies with a certain female Pakistan Sports Correspondent were losing their wickets. It was from day-before-yesterday that a rumour that circulated around to the effect that it was a female Pakistan Correspondent who was at the back of the defeat of those matches with both Virat Kohli of the Indian side and de Villiers of South Africa losing their wickets for a duck in two matches.

While she had appeared in selfies with Kohli and de Villiers, later she had taken a selfie with Sri Lankan Captain Angelo Matthews too. She had even left a message at the moment of extending her wishes for the match yesterday which was a Twitter message in the form of "There you are ... I did my job today also". Yesterday Matthews was dislodged for 39 runs ... but all the same the match was lost.

Prins Udaya Priyantha untimely dejected sang heartbroken songs because the singer whom he wanted to marry took another's hand in marriage!

There is an untold story of popular singer Prins Udaya Priyantha who left all of us some days back and it has been revealed by Mr. Ananda Padmasiri, an artiste-friend of his.

Prins remained a bachelor until his last moment upto the age of 47 years and though many people identify him as a singer who destroyed his life because he was an alcohol-addict, the story that runs at the background of course is rather sorrowful to say the least. It has been revealed that the singer with whom he was in love with had kept a distance from him and deserted him for incredible reasons after which his life had taken a drastic change. After
whom he was in love with had kept a distance from him and deserted him for incredible reasons after which his life had taken a drastic change. After that he had lived an unmarried life continuously and taken up to drinking and on the occasion he accompanied his mother who loved him and cared for him on a tour to Dambadiva and Dubai where her ailing conditions raised its head, she ultimately passed away in a hospital in Dubai. With this shock to Prins he too had fallen into the sick bed, it was revealed. That description is as follows:

"Towards the '90s Prins Udaya Priyantha was a singer who was embraced with great affection. After that, a young female singer trapped his heart. Love was expressed and consent from both parties was wholeheartedly given. But in this world where the unexpected takes place ... the songstress without becoming the bride of Prins happened to take the hand of another. The honest, innocent singer's heart fell apart. Sorrowful songs began to flow incessantly from the singer whose heart was thus scraped. Young male and female fans of his welcomed his songs with so much love. But only those who associated him closely knew that the source of most of those songs was Prins's songstress-lover who isolated him.

At a later date Prins provided a feature to a Sunday newspaper by the name of 'Thani Tharuwa' mentioning the name of that very songstress and that he was to wed her but that he was unable to figure out why she desolated him and finally became someone else's possession. After his hopes were so dashed he decided to remain single, giving vent to his feelings across his songs by singing more and more of songs of anguish. 'Kandulu ganga gala ... desa uthura giya ...', 'Ma thaniwee handana peye ... oba sengavee koheda giye', 'Thurulu vemin hemin sere, maa langin aadare kiyala dun lande', 'Vijithaya aadare obamaya landuni mage' were the songs that flowed from Prins's voice and with those songs his popularity too doubled and trebled.

It was seldom that one would hear of a music show where both Namal Udugama and Prins Udaya Priyantha were missing those days. The decade of the '90s were theirs. Though Namal took Ruwanthi Mala's hand in marriage, Prins Udaya Priyantha lived with his loving mother all alone embracing pangs of a broken romance.  He loved and cared for his beloved mother as his own life. His father had died some years ago. Though his mother, a former Principal, Mrs. Rosalin dreamt so much of seeing his son with a bride and it was only on that matter that he disobeyed his mother. As his sister Shironi Priyangika was married and staying close to his house he also had no problem, Prins once told me. Prins who participated on a number of outdoor concerts for a day did not feel that much of a loneliness.

As time passed by, Prins thought of taking his mother on a tour to Dambadiva. At a time when Prins was to appear in a performance in Dubai he escorted his mother on that tour and finally arrived in Dubai. Prins's mother who became sick there ultimately passed away at a Dubai hospital. Prins who then faced a severe shock in those circumstances too was hospitalised immediately. The path to Prins's departure forever on the morning of June 8th was signalled with the onset of his mother's death. That was in 2014. After that his whole world collapsed. With strong mental disturbance accompanied by physical debilitation Prins became a total wreck. Apart from his existent sickly condition the doctors pronounced that an infection had entered his brain and he could speak only just a few words. There was no attempt that his sister Shironi took from the year 2014 upto that moment in keeping his brother alive. While all properties and assets were dwindling away she unstintedly kept on hoping to keep Prins alive".

"The money and vehicles which aiyya saved are now over. The doctors say that continuous treatment is necessary for a further period. Because of that I speak out my sorrow to his fans who always helped him ...", his sister Shironi told our Dinamina - Sathsara page some months back. We published it under the title: Honourable President -- pay attention to Prins. As the sickly condition of Prins was published on Facebook and websites across other media, donations were bestowed by fans all over the world. Among that crowd were Ministers such as Ravi Karunanayaka and Gayantha Karunatilleka too. Whatever it is, just 5 days before his birthday in his 47th year on June 8th he closed his eyes forever thus shattering all hopes of his sister Shironi who was dreaming of rescuing his brother Prins by somehow or other finding the money necessary for him. That was exactly on Poson Day that he died.

Prins Udaya Priyantha who was born on 13th June, 1970 in Elpitiya, Galle has had his schooling at Elpitiya Aanda Maha Vidyalaya and it was after his school education that he entered the music field through the Jathika Tharuna Seva Sabhava.

"It was as a violinist that Prins joined Tharuna Seva Sabja Music group. At the same time he had a great skill in playing the keyboard. In the meantime he embarked on singing. Almost every song gained popularity. Though Prins is no more today ... those songs still remain in the hearts of his fans", said popular singer Chandana Liyanaarachchi, a contemporary of his. Songs such as, 'Sudu mal pokurak', 'Verala konakahinda', 'Kandulu ganga', 'Sandarenu vehena', 'Mahada premadare', 'Oba pe pem sina', 'Nilwan guwan gebe', 'Maa eda kiyu de', 'Maa handawala', 'Oba ha gevu athithe', 'Oba hamuwu dine', 'Sudumal visirunu', 'Pemwathun sinase', 'Sanda kumariyak', 'Samudenna samugannanam', 'Sithin ivasanna be', 'Vijithaya adare', 'Sulange selee', 'Maa thaniwee handana peye' the list of songs credited to him were sung by his own saddened voice and as Chandana Liyanaarachchi remarked became exceedingly popular. Cassettes with songs by Prins sold like hot cakes in cassette shops down Malwatta Road.

Apart from singing Prins displayed skills in lyric-writing and creation of music too. 'Maa handawala oba magen venwela' was written by him and the music was composed by Prins himself and that song became an outstanding hit from among such songs. It incidentally was a song written based on his heartbreaking experience. From among so many songs sung by Prins Udaya Priyantha, almost ninety nine percent were romantic songs. Even from among them the bulk were songs that spoke of separation. But a song he sang about his father who was not there to see him becoming a singer too became tremendously popular. Though the song 'Sudu mal pokurak athin daraa maa' was able to entertain hundreds and thousands of the fans. What his sister Shironi who let goof her possessions when her brother Prins was trapped in the grips of cruel fate and was on sick-bed asking for help from his fans was "My innocent aiyya now understands nothing of these things. What he thinks is that his nangi would only somehow take him out of the woods".

When death knocks at the door there is no one who can send him away and has no option than go with him. Our affectionate singer too did likewise. Prins who had to forego the sacred love that he cherished so much and having lost his loving mother who went with him abroad where he saw her pass away ... all added to his pain and to bring the physical misery he suffered to a close he ultimately closed his eyes forever on Poson Poya day.
