Director General of government information Ranga Kalansuriya on the verge of resigning
A controversial incident is reported when the newly appointed Director General of the government Information department Ranga Kalansuriya had submitted his letter of resignation to the President Maithripala Sirisena who had refused to accept it.
Ranga Kalansuriya had handed over his letter of resignation today before the commencement of the
cabinet board meeting. The reason has been attributed to the fact of a letter published in the media. In this letter he had emphasised that a story had been published that Ranga Kalansuriya is supposed to be a dangerous person who is trying to set the President against the Prime Minister.It has also been said that in a previous cabinet board meeting last week the President had spoken about this.The reason for Ranga Kalansuriya to submit his letter of resignation is because as the President had not denied this allegation. Instead of accepting his letter of resignation the President had told him not to take much such notice of newspaper information.
