Road where ghosts are seen at daytime in Anuradhapura
As a result of a certain apparition of a deceased young girl who died a few months ago had begun to suddenly appear during daytime along a by-lane close to a main road which gives access to the holy city of ancient Anuradhapura and then all of a sudden disappearing, residents of the area as well as several outsiders who come to this
area have become scared and struck by suspense, it is reported. The said lass had made a decision to end her life on her own some months before this and it was a middle-aged person living in the area who had first seen her figure a few weeks after her death. The girl who was dressed in white clothing had travelled a few metres in the company of this person engaging in conversation in the process when he had all of a sudden recalled that this girl had already died when at that instance she had let out a hearty laugh and subsequently vanished. The person concerned had then gone home drenched in sweat. After that incident he had been sick for some days and had later come back to normal after a ritual was performed on him.
When going into the matter by visiting the area concerned and based on the information secured, several persons living there and a number of people who had arrived there from outside had witnessed her figure and had got frightened, it was revealed. Information was exposed about some others who had indulged in conversation and had been travelling together with the phantom not knowing that she was someone who was not among the living. The figure of this apparition was mostly seen during mid-day which is something noteworthy and special and the figure has been seen during night hours which has put several people in a fright. On certain other occasions her whole body had been seen walking along the by-lane many a time while outsiders had observed a bust of a person clad in white floating away during nighttime.
Although a host of people had become aghast at this ghostly feminine apparition, a resident in the area had said that the people who had seen the ghost had kept the incident under their hat for the sake of embarassment. He added that travelling along that by-road during mid-day had been lessened but that he too had experienced a dread having witnessed that inhuman figure himself.
