Gnanasara's chelas who played the devil at court premises ....

by keeping neck under bus tyre ....

when the thera was to be remanded

An extensive dialogue has emerged over the behaviour of the pupils of Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera when he was subjected to police custody yesterday for having made statements contrary to the law saying that he
does not agree with the legal decision . All this happened after he came in to the court-romm as an outsider when the case relating to missing mediaman Prageeth Ekneligoda was being heard.

Homagama Magistrate Mr. Ranga Dissanayaka had issued orders to arrest Gnanasara Thera under the offence of contempt of court, disrupting judicial proceedings and reprimanding civil servants. Gnanasara Thera spoke out saying, "This is a eunuch-style government. Government menial officers also have got together and have sent soldiers to the chopping-block and are getting ready to betray the country to the Tigers. As long as I am in robes, I will not allow crimes of this nature! If I have insulted courts ... send me to jail!" Gananasara Thera had challenged the magistrate saying so. The thera had even gone to the extent of threatening and reprimanding Prageeth Ekneligoda's wife saying, "Your damned man is a Tiger ... you go and beg!" It has been revealed that he had taken steps to personally threaten Senior President's Counsel, Attorney-at-Law Mr. Dileep Pieris too.

Whether we are in favour or not of the Roman-Dutch Law which is in force in this country, when considering on the basis that all citizens should bow down to the existing law of the country, the thera's behaviour cannot be approved. A dialogue has by now emerged that there is some political motivation behind this behaviour. Though a strong voice was observed by the Opposition about the disappearance of Prageeth Ekneligoda douring the Mahinda regime, nobody was interested in saying that he had connections with Tigers or to launch an investigation during that period. But during a period when the law has become active, this form of questionable protests surfacing could be taken as being directed by some form of energetic element. When in an era where safeguarding discipline of the Sasana has become a topic of discussion in the country, it is something special to notice this type of behaviour springing forth.

At the time Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera was taken into custody and was produced before Homagama Courts, a group of Buddhist monks dancing the devil in front of courts premises demanding the thera's release nevertheless has provoked an uproar. A certain monk on that occasion had kept his neck close to the prison bus preventing it in moving forward and thus engaged in his protest. Jumping over walls and getting into conflict with the police they had indulged in a meaningless act of stopping a court decision.

Prime Minister Mr. Ranil Wickremasingha had spoken about this in parliament yesterday (26). This is what he had said: "A very unfortunate incident took place today. A certain crowd has gone near the courts and made a protest. In the process it has been revealed that a crowd adorned with robes too had been in that crowd. What the police did was act according to orders of the magistrate. Since there is a law in the country ... it is common to all. As a Buddhist I apologise and also am embarassed as to what happened at courts premises in connection with Homagama Magistrate. This government will never leave room for Somaramas or Buddharakithas to come into existence. With regard to the threat made on Mrs. Ekneligoda, courts decided to remand Gnanasara Thera. Law is equal to everybody. We should respect the law".

Yahapalana government is one that has gone beyond Hitler - Gotabhaya

Yahapalaya government is one that has gone  beyond Hitler. When Hitler ruled there were no such things was added by former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa  to the media
personnel when he was leaving the magistrate courts in Kaduwela on the 30th instant.

Gotabhaya Rajapakasa had added when  five persons including Yoshita Rajapaksa  were found guilty in money laundering activities alleged to have taken place at the CSN television institution which were found when investigations were carried out in the past months by the commission for frauds and corruption unit  and when the  Kaduwela magistrate had ordered all of them to be remanded.

He had also added that taking revenge from top politicians is another issue. To take revenge from a 25 year old youngster is wrong. In the history no such case has been reported. What the yahapalanaya government had done during the past one year was taking revenge from them, he had further added.

 Mervin reveals White-van strategy!

Statement given to CID by Mervin describing how White vans were directed

Though there were rumours during the last period of the Mahinda Rajapaksa rule that persons who disturbed the regime were abducted, occasions when they were proved were rare. It was the popular
Minister, Mervin Silva who came forward to talk about this issue in this connection after the new government came into power. He had accused former Secretary of Defence, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa point-blank in this respect. Mervin Silva had explained that a certain group of the army was behind this White Van operation directed by Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

When the case relating to the three youth who were abducted in Mattakkuliya area was being heard in the presence of Colombo Chief Magistrate Mr. Gihan Pilapitiya yesterday (26), the CID informed that Mervin Silva had on a previous instance given a statement about this White Van involvement and therefore it could turn out to be important. As such, the statement given by former Member of Parliament who had placed his signature as Hewacoperage Mervin Silva at the office of Superintendent of Police, Mr. B.S. Perera of the CID on 05th November 2015 was forwarded to courts. A part of the information contained in it, as follows:

Question: You had stated to the CID in relation to this incident that the White Van culture was being directed by the former Secretary of Defence, Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. How do you say so?
Answer: What I say is ... there was a businessman called Amal Rodrigo in Kelaniya. He had been abducted in a White Van 3 years ago in Pita-Kotte. Later having got the news a short while since the incident, I spoke to the President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa over the phone. I told him, "Sir, a person who's close to me has been abducted by a White Van. It's an act of Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa .... done to take revenge on me. Release this person on my behalf. This is done to take away the people on my side. Basil Rajapaksa is in this plan. He was in a spiteful mood". I told him that it was done with the purpose of removing people from me. The President then told me, 'This can't be our work. Anyway I'll help you Mervin'. After 9 days Amal Rodrigo was left by the roadside. I can't remember the place. After that the President called me and said, "There ... Mervin I have sent the man". At that point I told the President, "Sir .... Your Honour you saved a whole family .... may you be blessed with so much merit".

Subsequently Amal came to meet me at my Nugegoda house. He said, "Those who took me away told me to stop connections I have with you .... you can't go behind him ... disappear from there .... and told many other things". I can't remember those. He told about being assaulted also. He also told me that it was a group from the army that abducted him. Further, a person called Donald Perera also had been abducted at Galle Road by a White Van 6 months after Amal Rodrigo was abducted. He also was a person who used to help me a lot in my political activities. At the time he was lifted away I was in Polonnaruwa. From there I spoke to the President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa over the phone and said, "Sir, a friend of mine has been lifted from a White Van. He's a person from Panadura". I told him to rescue him also. Apart from that I said, "See that this activity is stopped ... otherwise I'll have to step aside from politics. Gotabhaya is responsible for this incident".

The former President said that he'll attend to it. Four days after that he too was sent back. Once again the President spoke over the phone and said, "Mervin .... your man has been released". At that point I thanked the President. Later Donald Perera visited me at my Mirihana house. He told that that he was abducted by some people of the army. He said that he was taken blindfolded and that he was assaulted, threatening him that if he didn't stop connections with me he won't be left alive. In the same way Thilakasiri alias Thilak living in Dalupitiya, Kelaniya and who supported me a great deal in my political-work was kidnapped about 2 years before this at McCallum Road by a White Van. Even for that I spoke to former President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa. He said, "I'll see to it". So saying he asked me to contact Gotabhaya. I spoke to Gotabhaya over the phone. On that occasion he said that he'll inquire about it promptly. Four days after that as in the previous manner Thilakasiri had been left by a van. I can't remember whether I again spoke to the President and said that he was released. The reason for that is that I have spoken so many times over incidents like this.

Question: Where was that White Van culture you're speaking about? Do you have any knowledge about other individuals it this?
Answer: There was group there who was partial to Gotabhaya. They were in the army. It was a team chosen by Gotabhaya from the army they was selected for this. I can't remember their names. If I see, I can tell. If somebody reminds me of those names ... I will tell. Another point is that I happened to meet a person connected to White Vans when one day I was in Gotabhaya Rajapaksa's office at the Ministry of Defence. I can't remember his name.

Question: Where was the statement, "Lasantha writes even if it's wanted that way ... and writes what is not wanted also" supposed to have been told to you during the middle part of the year 2008?
Answer: Gotabhaya made that statement to me at Temple Trees. After saying that he mentioned that he's going to take a decision about Lasantha. I said that this is something that could be solved after discussion and that the President is a friend of his. Then he said, "What discussions with that devil Mervin!" Only the two of us were there. There wasn't anybody else.

immediately take into custody and brought before courts.

In the meantime, according to investigations conducted in connection with this particular incident, the magistrate ordered that the suspected police officers too be arrested and brought before courts. Magesterial enquiry pertaining to the death of Sumith Prasanna Jayawardena was conducted in the presence of Embilipitiya Magistrate, Mr. Prasanna Fernando, yesterday. What Mrs. Sashika Nishamani Munasingha, wife of Sumith Prasanna Jayawardena who has been subjected to murder said by giving evidence was that the Assistant Superintendent of Police, the Headquarters Inspector of Police and a team of officers had brutally assaulted her husband.

Sashika Munasingha stated that she was able to identify both the Assistant Superintendent of Police of Embilipitiya and the Headquarters Chief Inspector of Police because they had been chief guests at festivals of her child's school. Cabinet approval for National Anthem to be sung in Tamil ....

on forthcoming National Day

Cabinet approval for National Anthem to be sung in Tamil

Cabinet approval has been granted for the singing of the national anthem in Tamil at the National Day celebrations to be held on next February 04th. Cabinet Spokesman Minister Mr. Rajitha Senaratna has announced this across the media. What he says is that this step has been arrived at according
to a proposal put forward by the parliament cabinet sub-committee in relation to the identity of Sri Lanka. The Minister who says that among several proposals included in the list of proposals, the first one that was considered was that the national anthem is to be sung in both Sinhala and Tamil languages. He further stated that when this suggestion was brought forward before the Cabinet there was no objection raised by anybody but that only certain ideas emerged. Therefore, consent was forthcoming from the Prime Minister too and he said that on the commemoration festival scheduled to be held next 04th February the national anthem would be made to be sung in Sinhala as well as in the Tamil language, he mentioned. As such, this would be the first occasion when the national anthem would be sung at an Independence Day celebration.

In the process, Prime Minister Mr. Ranil Wickremasingha made a speech yesterday (28) in parliament for a period close upon half-hour and emphasised that some media were 'going on the hunt' by spreading racialism and that it should not be done in future.

The national anthem would be sung in Tamil in the following manner:

Pair of toilet slippers and pots discovered from ....

Peacock sand-pool which ASP said to dig and see if Mahinda's gold could be found

ASP Liyanage's Peacock Mansion gold issue

Businessman ASP Liyanage who held a media discussion recently requesting for an investigation about the rumour that Mahinda's gold could be found in the sand-filled swimming pool at Peacock Mansion belonging to him has also said that he is unable to go to sleep until that investigation is carried out. This story
which he himself says as having been published in an article of a newspaper though did not attract a big popularity as such, because of his compulsion itself an investigation was launched by the police and bacho machines were brought with much expenses incurred and about 30 cubes of sand was removed, searching as to what was there, yesterday.

Though A.S.P. Liyanage had complained to the IGP regarding the rumour that former President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa's gold and money was hidden inside the sand, what really was found in the search there was not gold or money but a pair of slippers used in the toilet and some pots brought down for the protection of the house buried there in the sand.

Thus public funds utilised for the labourers and the machines by the police to remove this heap of sand actually has gone astray. Whatever it is, Mr. Liyanage who was in this manner absolved from all accusations enjoyed a satisfying sleep last night!

Yoshitha Rajapaksa in custody ....

for CSN channel fraud

Remanded for two weeks

 Yoshitha Rajapaksa arrested!

Former President's son Mr. Yoshitha Rajapaksa was arrested this afternoon after being questioned by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division and was remanded for a period of 2 weeks for having violated rules and regulations of the Naval Forces while still engaged in services there by utilising government property
too and being attached to the private channel of CSN and also in trying to covering it up.

He had been summoned this morning to the Headquarters of the Navy for extracting a statement from him and thus interrogated. Five persons including Yoshitha Rajapaksa who were subjected to suspicion in this connection were interrogated. The others are Directors of CSN channel Nishantha Ranatunga, Rohan Weliwita, Ashan Ravinath Fernando and Lavishan Dissanayaka. Mr. Dhammika Hemapala, Kaduwela Chief Magistrate remanded all of them this evening for a period of 14 days.

They were produced before courts today by Financial Crimes Investigation Division on several counts including cheating public property through CSN Sports channel. Former President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa, wife Shiranthi and son Namal were present at courts premises when they were produced to courts.

Police Media Spokesman, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr. Ruwan Gunasekera said that they had been taken into custody according to inquiries conducted by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division under the relevant Act. At the moment the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa entered from the main gate of Kaduwela Courts at 6.12 this evening and came to the courts compound, a crowd of monks including Muruththettuwe Ananda Thera too had assembled at courts premises while Basil Rajapaksa and a number of Opposition MPs including former Secretary of Defence also had been present.

It was Yoshitha Rajapaksa who was brought to courts first. While he was brought by a van, the others were brought by a bus. When Mahinda Rajapaksa the former President entered the compound of Kaduwela courts, what he told the media who surrounded him was that as soon as he came to know that his son was to be taken into custody he had promptly questioned him about it. The former President quipped that Yoshitha had told him that the FCID is questioning him and had responded saying, "Father ... you look after your own business". On that occasion the former President is supposed to have as if by anger said, "Sons, wives and brothers being taken into custody and by putting them into jail ... the courage that was gained from 1936 will not be lost and that courage will not be lost just because dogs bark".

The group including Mr. Yoshitha Rajapaksa who were taken into custody have been remanded till 11th February. Photos and video of that occasion, from below

Yoshitha's MBA exam disturbed because of being imprisoned

-- Mahinda

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had gone to Welikada Prison yesterday (1) to visit Yoshitha Rajapaksa and the crowd who are detained at Welikada Prison under the offence of the CSN financial fraud concerned. On that occasion Mahinda had said and emphasised that
this is an imprisonment done not for the sake of a fraud but for revenge only and that Yoshitha is preparing for his MBA examination and that because of this problem a disturbance has been created in that aspect. What Mahinda had said further was that it is wrong to take revenge from children and that it would be better if he was remanded. What he said, is s follows:

"What is wrong is taking revenge on children. If I was arrested and caged, it would have been so much the better for this. There is a doctor also here. He's a shareholder. What he has been told is to tell Yoshitha's name and that then they will release him ... if not he would be put in jail. He (Yoshitha) is preparing for the MBA examination on 9th, 10th. Now see the frustration he undergoes. Another person was brought with hands and legs broken. These people are not in the hospital. Only the injured person has been put to the hospital. This is the true story".
