Friend who took mango-friend's pregnant wife to a paddy field ....
to sexually abuse her
An incident is reported from Thambuththegama of a friend who had attempted to molest his mango friend's wife.
As reported, the incident is as follows: Two
friends had associated each other from schooldays and one of them had entered into marriage almost as soon as schooling was over. Though one of them had got married, even after marriage they had continued their friendship without any break. The bachelor friend had made it a habit to make frequent visits to his married friend's home. They had even joined in picnics together. The wife of the married friend's wife was quite good-looking. She in fact had got pregnant a few months after the marriage. It was the custom of the bachelor boy during the past to come and have a chat at at the pregnant woman's home even when his comrade was not at home.
When he had come last 31st the wife had been notified of some news which shook her up. The bachelor boy had told her that her hsband had been taken into custody by Thambuththegama Police and that he could provide some support if she thought it necessary to go and see her husband. The wife who believed that what the friend was telling was the truth had become agitated and had got herself dressed up and proceeded to go to the police station in the company of her husband's bosom pal.
After she had got on to the friend's motor-bike to go to police, a short while later the rider had stopped the bike half way on the journey at a lonely spot and had made her too to get down from the bike. Though the wife had questioned as to why he stopped at an abandoned spot near a paddy field in Musalpitiya adjoining a forest area, instead of answering her question she had been asked to come with him, saying "come will you ... I'll take you there from this road". In this manner having taken her to the forest, had then begun to feel her body unanticipatedly and had attempted to molest her sexually. "Don't worry .... I won't tell anything to my friend .... nothing will happen". So saying he had tried to get round her. However the pregnant woman who had not acceded to his suggestion had assaulted him and run away and then had stopped a vehicle in the process and fled from there. Later she had taken steps to complain about this to Thambuththegama Police too. She had on that occasion realised that the story that her husband was arrested by the police was just a fib.
The suspect friend was later taken into custody by the police. The suspect who tried to sexually molest the mango friend's eight months pregnant wife by duping her and taking her to the forest was produced before Thambuththegama Magistrate and the Magistrate Mr. S.B. Ilangasingha ordered him to be remanded till 7th January. It was a youth resident in Gammana 7 of Thambuththegama who was thus remanded.
