Robber's father's wonderful strategy to send away policemen who came to nab robbers

A posse of policemen had gone to arrest a suspect of gold jewellery and the suspect's father had thought of a wonderful strategy of creating inconvenience of carrying out their duties which incident is reported from Chilaw police.

When the police went to make a check on the house concerned, because of a complaint made to the effect that a group of officers under liquor are creating disturbance, they had to present themselves

for three inspections to confirm that they were not under liquor, Chilaw police says. It was six officers of the crime division in Chilaw police station who had to face a situation like this.

A certain doctor's house had been burgled within Chilaw province and a stock of gold items in the house had been looted, the doctor concerned had lodged a complaint. As such, police had immediately taken action to arrest the looters by launching an investigation. On a tip-off received that one of the suspects connected to the burglary was living in Marawila area, six police officers had set off in order to take him into custody. Just then these officers were ordered by a higher officer to report immediately to their police station. These officers who stopped their operations then promptly wet before the higher officer. The police say that on a complaint received that the officers had entered a house highly intoxicated with liquor and is harassing them and therefore steps had been taken to check whether they were in an intoxicated state.

Though it was revealed that they were found free of liquor, another highranking officer had inspected them to check whether they were under liquor or not as the earlier results were not convincing. Even then the results were found to be negative and the higher officer still not satisfied with this results either, the six officers were dispatched to Chilaw hospital and thus directed for a medical examination. On that occasion too after examination it was revealed that they were free from liquor. Because of this problem of drunkenness it was not possible to take the gold-robber into custody.

What was revealed in this instance was that when action was taken to nab the burglar, in order to rescue him, his father had complained to a higher officer that a posse of policemen had arrived at his home under liquor and was creating trouble.

Meghan refuses to come!

All arrangements have been made to conduct Queen's nephew of the royal family, Prince Harry's wedding on 19th Saturday which incidentally happens to be the greatest wedding festival this year

and bride Meghan Markle's father Thomas Markle living in America has informed that he is not able to attend the function.

He had made a comment to the website TMZ saying that as he is suffering from a heart ailment he would not be in a position to be present on that day for the occasion. The special point of interest here is that the Meghan - Harry royal wedding after being announced by the royal palace and various media reports were published during the past several months, still for all Meghan's father and bridegroom Harry has not met each other so far. Though news that this special meeting would take place on wedding day, what is now reported is that he would keep away from it. Reports were published sometime back that the queen had become enraged about releasing old photographs to websites where he and Meghan appear.

What some gossip websites in England during the past reported was that the royal family has been disappointed because Meghan who was an American actress comes down from a not so favourable family background. Though the queen, Prince Charles or anybody for that matter showed any protest for this marriage, reports appeared to say that no consent either was declared. Thomas Markal on the other hand was an artiste who was involved in Hollywood cinematic artistic creations as Art Director, lighting systems and the technical aspect. His earlier marriage ended in 11 years. He then entered into another marriage. He begot daughter Meghan from his first marriage while he got another daughter from his second marriage who was named Samantha.

Meghan Markal marries Harry as her second marriage. Whatever it is, Meghan's mother Doria Raglant who lives separately from Meghan's father would be attending the wedding festival.

Government Medical Officers' Association which continuously launched a strike on behalf of SAITM protest during the past has abandoned it after local government elections and of late only Frontline Socialist Party has now taken a hand in it.

On this occasion medical officers have resumed their strike this time with because of an overseas

agreement and thus putting patients into various difficulties. From 8 o'clock this morning (17) the Government Medical Officers' Association are engaged i n an islandwide token strike by showing their protest against signing a Singapore Free Trade Agreement and some other demands as well. Municipal council member Sumith Passeperuma revealed information at the municipal council meeting held yesterday that a sum of Rs. fifty seven lakhs has been allocated for renovation of toilets of the official residence of new mayoress of Coombo, Mrs. Rosy Senanayaka which has posed a problem.

When considering problems of public toilets of Colombo, he complained that this type of action for

personal luxurious use is not something not suitable. Mayoress Mrs. Rosy Senanayaka who responded to this allegation said that because the mayor's official residence has been out of use for a period of 4 years its toilet system has broken down and for that reason steps were taken to renovate them and that to erect pubic toilets anew, action has been taken to build new toilets on the contribution of the private sector.

In the process ideas had sprung up criticising the mayoress from the committees and it was mentioned that an opportunity where even an Mp is not in a position to meet the mayoress and that a form of dictatorial atmosphere prevails within the municipality and that Mps have been advised to inform in advance by chit of such a necessity. The mayoress who responded to that allegation too said that such action was taken by contemplating about consequences which could crop up when 119 Mps were to come to meet her at one and the same time. She also added that she has to attend to solving issues of public in the city, development affairs and has to participate in discussions quite often with the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank as well to solve institutional issues.

Disciplinary action imposed on Visakha principal and 7 others because of irregularities of admitting students to grade one!

Ministry of Education which inquired into irregularities allegedly during admitting students to grade 1 of Visakha College, Bambalapitiya has resolved to take disciplinary action against principal Sandamali Aviruppola, persons of the interview board and 2 other persons connected to the staff.

Information about this particular incident of irregularity has come to light in the case of a secret

survey launched to investigate matters connected to acts of corruption and irregularities supposed to be taking place in instances of admitting children to popular schools in the island.

Among other individuals among those subjected to penalisation are a teacher of the interview board, 2 Old Girls of Old Girls' Association and 1 official of the school development society, Ministry sources say. Education authorities have decided to suspend the person who was a suspect in forging signatures of personnel of the Education Ministry and to take disciplinary action in that regard while the person who was suspected as having prepared bogus documents is to be transferred to another school.

SL Rs. 30 found while searching former corrupt Malaysian premier's house

After Prime Minister Mahathir Mohommed came back to power recently subsequent to the general election of Malaysia former Prime Minister Najib Razak was banned from leaving the country because of allegations of corruption against him and had obstructed the airport to prevent him from leaving after which all corruption in

relation to his assets were subjected to checking these days.

Under the above circumstances a luxurious house supposedly belonging to him was subjected to inspection yesterday and the police of that country were able to find jewellery, valuable items and 284 boxes containing cash. News sources of that country say that bribery officers have taken action to inspect cash deposited in handbags of those boxes. Black money which he had earned from various countries had been found deposited there and it is something of noteworthy interest to record that 30 lakhs of Sri Lankan monies were in that lot. By whom was it given and with what motive behind it has still not been unravelled.

There are several luxury houses in in the town of Kuala Lumpur belonging to the former Premier and the media of that country say that by now all those houses are being checked. On the occasion when defeated in the general election Najib Razak has with the aid of a van has removed a number of items from prime minister's residence to his home and as a result of a tip off the former prime minister's home was checked. He faced a serous defeat at the general elections with the root cause being misappropriation of funds from Malaysian Development Fund. Apart from that, the former premier and his wife was accused of a number of bribery acts and other cheating in relation to monies. Investigations are still underway.

Waterfalls in Central hill country active because of torrential rains (photos)

With the onset of torrential rains that fall down for a number of days, levels of Maussakele and Castlereigh reservoir keep rising.

Engineers in charge of both Maussakele and Castlereigh reservoirs have mentioned that these reservoirs have reached a height of spill level of 41,09 and 14.04 feet by six this morning. Because of

the heavy rains, two spill gates of Lakshapana reservoir have been opened yesterday (20) from afternoon. As the water level of Kelani river would rise once the spill gates are opened, both Electricity Board and Disaster Management Centre have cautioned those using water in the river to act with caution.

As a result of continuous rainfall throughout 24 hours, in certain areas where these reservoirs are have become active and water levels of branches of Kelani river keep rising. Bride Meghan Markal following a simple dress mode at the royal wedding held in Britain last Saturday attracted much dialogue among many people. Various opinions were expressed within the social media too in this respect and what some people said was that no sophisticated attires were seen in her case unlike in the case of a Sri Lankan marriage though this happened to be a royal wedding.

Meghan's hairstyle was attended to by a professional known as Serge Normant. He was by birth a

French national living in America and incidentally had arrived here from New York for this occasion. "There was no necessity to worry about this as such. What she expected from me was something very simple and it took just forty five minutes or an hour for all that. I don't want to exaggerate something just for nothing. Actually, items necessary to do this could be found even from a common supermarket. It's only such a small job. Because she wanted it that way ... I did so. Meghan was satisfied with my creation. She in fact spoke to me about it the whole day.

It was one Claire Waite Keller who attended to her simple frock. She happens to be the first lady directress of French Fashion House and she has stated that the frock had cost a sum of pounds 2 lakhs. "Various newspapers and magazines queried about this creation from me before the wedding. We did not divulge that secret at any time according to how we agreed. Even my husband had no idea as to what the design was going to be like. Meghan is a tele star in America. It is just like the way we used to see her on television. She is a very humble character. What she wanted was a simple frock. When compared to other frocks that I handle, this is not something which cost a big deal. Some people may have been taken by surprise when they heard that it was a frock like this for a royal wedding. But that is how she wanted it. She in fact thanked me for handling it properly. But since the frock was large, it was difficult to walk. I had of course to train her a little of how to walk after wearing it. Meghan's facial make up was attended to by her regular beautician Daniel Martin whom she got down for the purpose. Meghan however had not faith in British beauticians as such. Meghan's head dress was made out of diamonds and it had been modernised in 1932 by Queen Mary, niece of Queen Elizabeth. It had been made by platinum and diamonds and Queen Mary had initially received it in 1893 as a wedding gift, it is understood. It is learned that Princess Margaret has worn it in the year nineteen sixty five and that Queen Elizabeth has given it to Meghan there afterwards.

Bus fare hike from tonight

Bus fares have been increased from midnight today. The reason for this difference in bus fares is because of increase of fuel prices.

Bus associations have sounded an alarm saying that not agreeing to an increase of six.five percentage and minimal rice of 10 would result in an islandwide strike as they are not in favour with it and that a
twelve.five percentage is what they require. Under such circumstances the government resorted to a flexible compromise. The cabinet approval also was received on the price hike. After this approval was granted, the said price hike would go into operation from midnight today.

What Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr. Ashok Aeysingha said was that in these circumstances the minimum price of 10 would thus become 12 and that what was earlier at 13 would subsequently be fifteen. It has also been mentioned that this price hike was effected with no price hike coming into force for a period of 2 years. On the other hand what Consumer Associations remark is that as fuel is made available at a cheaper price by the present government than the previous regime, this price hike is not justified.

Seat reserved for bereaved Princess Diana at Harry and Meghan wedding!

The great loss of Princess Diana who left the world bringing tears to everybody's eyes 21 years before this was conspicuous felt at the royal wedding of the youngest in the royal family at his wedding which was held day before yesterday.

During the time Diana was among the living, Harry who changed his life for the very reason he felt

about being left in solitude in the absence of his mother. Following on his mother's footsteps he was involved in social service activities in African countries and he had stated that he had noted similar qualities in his chosen bride Meghan.

Guests of Prince Harry were seated on the left hand side in the church while guests of Meghan wereseated on the right at the wedding festival held day before yesterday and though all seats were occupied on that occasion, the very first seat allocated for the royal family was found empty. According to what Daily Mail newspaper has reported, this seat hasbeen left vacant by Harry on behalf of his bereaved mother. By leaving it empty Harry may have thought of joining her presence silently on that occasion. Flowers for the bouquet that Prince Harry bestowed on his bride too had been secured from Nottingham Park of Kensington Palace the latter of which was Prince Diana's location of residence. Flowers which Prince Diana mostly adored had been plucked by his own hands and were given for preparation, it is observed in reports.

In the meantime, bride Meghan had worn a ring given by Prince Diana in nineteen ninety six at the evening reception which incidentally was held on wedding day, it is reported.

When Princess Diana died from a road accident while travelling in the company of an illicit lover named Dodi Alfied in 1997, the queen had no liking for Diana's kith and kin frequenting the palace and had even severed connections with them. But Prince Harry on the other hand kept on associating them. When Prince Harry got involved with Meghan, he had continued to keep association with them by introducing her to those relatives.

In the meantime, two of Diana's sisters who incidentally were aunts of Harry by relationship and whom Queen Elizabeth did not favour were sent invitations on the decision of the bridegroom. Disciplinary action master sends 7 students to barber for hair cut at his own expense!

Teacher of a leading school in Anuradhapura has taken steps to give a haircut to 7 male school students who had attended school with long hair in a manner which did not suit school children last morning (22).

The said students who were in the ordinary level had come to school with very long hair and with

various hairstyles and on that occasion they had been noticed by school prefects who were attending to disciplinary matters and had handed the 7 students concerned to a young teacher who was keeping a strict supervision on discipline. When this teacher had inquired as to the reason why they had not cut their hair, he had come to understand that they were not the type of children who obeyed their parents and then had proceeded to contact the father of a certain student studying in the same school by telephone and having got down a jeep and as a next course of action he had escorted the students to a barber salon in Anuradhapura town and had got their hair cut.

Though the teacher had instructed the barber to cut their hair short, the teacher who observed that they were making an influence on the barber to cut their hair according to the style they wanted had immediately told the barber to cut their hair very short. In the process, what the 7 students had told was, "Sir, those prefects who got hold of us too have long hair; so instruct them also to come to school after a hair cut". The teacher had then responded saying, "Yes, I noticed that they also had long hair ... so I gave instructions to them also not to come to school wearing long hair and to have a hair cut".

The teacher concerned has had to foot a bill of Rs. thousand and fifty and he had further taken steps even to provide a snack with a cup of milk tea to the father who provided transport to the 7 students and himself.

"It was I who performed bahirawa pooja at Malwana house at request of Basil's wife!

Basil Rajapaksa was accused as having been involved in misappropriation of funds of the government by using somebody else's name in connection with the ownership of a property extending to sixteen acres in Mapitima area, Malwana, Dompe comprising of a deluxe house equipped with a swimming pool and a dairy farm too, thus creating a sensation during sometime in the past.

was taken up for hearing by Gampaha High Court judge Mr. Nimal Ranaweera yesterday (22) and on that occasion Astrologer Sumanadasa Abeygoonawardena expressed details about the pooja of protection which he had provided in the process.

When deputy solicitor general of state, Mr. Thusith Mudalinge was directing prosecution, astrologer Sumanadasa Abeygoonawardena had this to say: "I am engaged in the profession as an astrologer from the year nineteen ninety six. On instructions of Mrs. Pushpa Rajapaksa, wife of former minister Basil Rajapaksa I proceeded to the land which was fifteen or sixteen acres in extent lying in Digana, Malwana in the month of February in the year 2013. Before a house was to be built there, I protected that property on that day according to Astrological procedures. I also prepared all auspicious time periods required to build a house.

Since I do not charge any money from Rajapaksa family, I did not take any money as such. On being informed by Colombo Financial Crimes Division in the month of July in year two thousand fifteen I visited the said Malwana property. I was happy to notice that a large house was erected there. I was so elated because I prepared the necessary auspicious hours to build that house". The high court judge then ordered that the case be taken for hearing once more on July 22nd.

Hairdresser Johann climbs Everest and brightens name of Sri Lanka!

Johann Peries was successful in achieving the honour of being the second Sri Lankan who attempted to climb Everest mountain yesterday (22). He had got close to the apex of the mountain at five fifty five last morning, Nepal time thus being victorious in his attempt to scale mount Everest which was 8,848 metres (29,029 feet)

above sea level.

His initial attempt to scale mount Everest in the month of April in the year two thousand sixteen. Though he accompanied the first Sri Lankan to scale mount Everest, Jayanthi Kuru Uthumpala, he was compelled to discourage him from proceeding further when just 448 metres away from reaching the top of mount Everest due to a lack of oxygen. Whatever it is, Johann attempted his second attempt in scaling mount Everest and a large number of Sri Lankans happened to make cash donations. Someone who launches an attempt to climb mount Everest is supposed to incur an expenditure of dollars five thousand eight hundred and sixty approximately, it is understood. Incidentally on this occasion he has joined in making this effort to climb mount Everest as a member of a group of international guides in mountaineering.

Johann has had a liking for outdoor life and even from his childhood he had displayed an interest towards mountaineering and information is received to the effect that he had scaled Knuckles mountain range with his father. Johan has climbed Pidurutalagala, Kirigalpoththa, Thotapola and such mountains of a high altitude in Sri Lanka and in addition has further scaled Chiang Mai mountain to the north of Thailand Burma border. He has also scaled mountain Kayah State in 2007 in proximity to it, mountain Kalapattar, Summit of Island Peak mountain in Nepal in 2012, mount Kilimanjaro of Tanzaniya and mount Luang Prabang of Laos in the year two thousand fifteen. After his first effort to climb Everest, he managed to make a success of his next attempt. In fact he has successfully achieved this risky attempt by all the same engraving Sri Lanka's name on an international level.

Case of child abuse within Weli oya police premises!

Inquiries are underway already with regard to an incident of a 12 year old boy detained in Weli oya police being abused by a police officer.

In this instance the boy has said that he was arrested by Weli oya police last 8th accused for having stolen some roofing sheets and thereafter he was detained at the police station that night until he was to be produced before Padaviya

Magistrate Court the following day and that when he was there, a certain police officer on duty had abused him to a serious extent, adding that he was threatened by shooting him to death if he exposed about this to anybody.

After the child confirmed to probation officers that a police officer had abused him sexually he had been promptly directed to Anuradhapura division child and women's bureau for further investigation. Consequently the police child and women's bureau had secured statements at length from the child concerned and it was thus revealed that he had been subjected to serious sexual abuse.

Examiners probing the incident have said that some suspicion has cropped up as to whether this sort of crime could occur when this child who was detained at Weli oya police was under supervision of a woman constable on the night of the said incident. The senior superintendent of police has informed that if at all some crime has taken place within the police station, he would not hesitate to take action against the officers concerned. Further inquiries are underway in this regard.

HNB Kilinochchi manager who commemorated 'War crimes Day' on 18th ... dismissed!

Cricketer Dhananjaya's father, Mp of 'Pohottuwa' shot dead at Ratmalana!

Mp of municipal council of Dehiwala Galkissa, Mr. K. Ranjan de Silva and father of allround cricketer of Sri Lanka team Dhananjaya de Silva was shot dead last night (24), it is reported.

The shooting has taken place in Gnanendra Road, Ratmalana and it is understood that two other individuals has sustained injuries as a result of this shooting. Consequently, all three persons were

admitted to Kalubowila Hospital and Mr. Ranjan de Silva has passed away. Investigations are being carried out to ascertain as to whether the shooting was a result of a political grudge.

Deceased Ranjan de Silva was aged 2 years at the time of his death and he had been elected to represent the Ratmalana West seat having secured a post of Mp by contesting under the 'Pohottuwa' symbol as a candidate of Sri Lanka United Front at last provincial council elections. Nobody has been arrested in connection with the shooting and Galkissa police continue investigations in this connection.

Dhananjaya de Silva, son of murdered Ranjan de Silva had in fact been selected to tour the forthcoming West Indies tour and he had prepared himself to set off on Friday with the Sri Lankan team to the West Indies.

Businessman tries to make advances to 2 air hostesses on board Air Lankan Airways coming from Dubai

Airport news reveal an incident of a person who was taken into custody for having tried to molest an air hostess within the plane on is way from Dubai to Colombo.

The suspect who had been responsible for having behaved in this manner inside a flight belonging to Sri Lankan Airways is a businessman resident of Galkissa aged 49 years, police say. The suspect has

in fact was travelling in a business class seat when he was coming from Dubai when this flight was flying to Colombo last Tuesday (22) and has requested for some expensive liquor and had got involved in a dispute with an air hostess in the process. On that occasion he had even reprimanded her in harsh words, it is learned. Subsequently she has delivered the said drink through another air hostess and while it the suspect had pulled her by her hand and attempted to abuse her, police were informed. At that moment she had brushed aside the suspect's hand and had departed from the scene for which reason the suspect had reprimanded her too in harsh words.

When the flight reached Katunayaka Airport both air hostesses had proceeded to inform the security officers there, after which the suspect was arrested. The suspect is expected to be produced before court.

Lover gets her thighs massaged by young man after sending boy friend to temple!

An instance is reported from Anuradhapura police headquarters where a boy who came to know a female here through the internet when he was in Italy and who incidentally had said goodbye to his newly found lover and matters even went to the extent of this female handing over clothes and dresses given to her by the boy at the said police station itself.

The said boy was a resident of of Wattala while his lover was someone who happened to be temporarily residing close to the city of Anuradhapura, but hailing from Pannipitiya in Colombo

district, aged thirty five years. Police say that a love affair had developed a few months or so previously across the internet between this young man and the female concerned and that this young female had visited the Italian lover's mother to meet her at her home in Wattala. After she had thus gone to the house of this boy who was in Italy, his mother has studied the immodest behaviour of the woman and subsequently had notified her mannerisms about this woman who had no modesty about her and further asked the son to put a stop to this affair immediately.

However the young man had not given heed to his mother's words and had continued with the affair. A few days previous to that the boy had come to the island and had come to Anuradhapura with his mother to confront her.
