President and Prime Minister meets Gotabhaya at wedding, not with Namal who was absconding

On the 14th of this month the son of the  "Araliya"rice merchant,Dudley Sirisena brother of President Maithripala Sirisena took place at a five star hotel in Colombo.

Among the distinguished invitees were the Maithripala Sirisna, Ranil Wickremasinghe and several Members of parliament including Namal Rajapaksa.

The Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe had been in conversation sitting along side Gotabhaya Rajapaksa when the latter had come and sat near the former. .A little while later President Maithripala Sirisena too had joined in the conversation for a bout 20 minutes.

It is reported that after the toppling of the previous government this is the first occasion the three had met like this.Although Namal Rajapaksa had attended the wedding as an invitee he had been absconding by attempting not to face the President and the Prime Minister it is learnt.

It is reported that two young  school girls had been aimlessly loitering inside the Aluthgama railway station in the night the other day were seen by the police patrolling the area. The police

had observed a peculiar behaviour in them.

The ages had been 13 years and 15 years.The two who are close friends on questioning had revealed that without informing their parents after school the two had spent the afternoon with a youngster on the beach and as the time was late to go home had decided to spend the night at the railway station.

The two school girls had come to know a youngster 17 year old  a hotel employee over the telephone who had invited the two girls to come to the Ambalangoda bus halt.The two girls without informing the parents had obliged the youngster by coming to the Ambalangoda bus halt.

In order to seek fun and pleasure the youngster had taken them to the Balapitiya sea shore. They have behaved like married couples for a number of hours. After a number hours of pleasure the youngster without looking into their safety had dropped them in the Aluthgama railway station and fled.

The incident had been conveyed to the parents of the two girls.The girls have been admitted to the hospital for medical examinations while the 17 year old hotel employee had been arrested by the police for interrogation.

During last week at the funeral ceremony and the performing of the last rituals of the Anu Nayake of the Ramanya Nikaya Nauyane Ariyadhamma thera
the national television telecast the funeral proceedings live.

During this live telecast the speech made by the former President Mahinda Rajapkasa was also telecast live.This had been criticized by certain political newspapers.

At the funeral ceremony the President and the Prime Minister had been absent.The messages of the President and the Prime Minister had been read.It is reported that a certain monk had proposed the former President to make a speech. Even at that time the representative Monks of the three Nikaya had not objected.

However the announcer of the national Rupavahini who had the list of the events to telecast had shown his dissent to the speech of the former President.When the Monk had suggested for the speech to be telecast the announcer in charge had shown dissent.Later the organizer in charge of the ceremony Minister Vajira Abeywardena had said that he cannot say anything.

At the end when the presenter had asked whether to take it off from the live programme it had been referred to the Minister of  mass media and communication and shown with his consent.

How youth who fell down from bike was run over by Nuwan Kulasekera's vehicle

A young man was run over and met with death last evening in Ranmuthugala area along the Colombo - Kandy Road by the vehicle driven by a cricketer of the Sri Lankan team Nuwan Kulasekera and at that time he was on his way to

Colombo from Kandy. The person on the motor bicycle had come from the other side. He had been unable to control his bike at Ranmuthugala where the incident took place and after having struck the edge of the concrete column which stood in the centre had then got thrown to a side. He had got thrown towards the other side of the road where vehicles were moving. Though a bus had provided him enough space for him to pass, he had not left sufficient space for Nuwan Kulasekera's car to avoid this accident. which then resulted in the victim being run over. Those who were witnesses to the incident said that the victim's head was smashed with the tyre of the vehicle running over and that he died on the spot.

The deceased was a youth aged 28 years old named Dinesh Aravinda Nisshanka residing in Nittambuwa. Nuwan Kulasekera who was taken into police custody after the incident was produced before Kadawatha Magistrate last night itself and was released on a bail of Rs. one lakh and was instructed to appear in courts next 26th.

Radio announcer who committed suicide inside Matara jail

An inmate of Matara Prison has hanged himself last morning (19) within the prison. During the period he functioned as a radio announcer of a popular provincial radio channel in Matara he had faced allegations of having tricked a 14 year old schoolgirl who had

been present there to appear for a children's programme in which instance he is supposed to have after taking her inside had allegedly raped the girl.

He was found guilty of this offence in courts and on the sentence given about a fortnight before had been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for a period of 12 years and 3 months. The convict who spent his time in despair with the thought that he was to spend a long period of time inside the prison and about the difficulties he would be called upon to encounter by society in the future had tried to hang himself with a piece of cloth by attaching it to a rod of a high elevation last morning inside the toilet in Matara Prison somewhere between 8 - 9. In that instance a fellow prisoner who had heard his shouting had notified the authorities. But by the time he was dispatched to Matara Hospital he had already passed away.

It is one Hewa Maddumage Gamini Jayatunga, a 49 year old person living in Watagedera, Nandugala who had committed suicide in this manner. A team of officers with Matara Headquarters Inspector of Police, Mr. Mahinda Caldera who are involved in conducting further inquiries.

Mahanama and Sanga joins "Ayati" to  facilitate the disabled children to uplift living standards

It is proposed to establish an institution named "Ayata" to distinguish the disabled children for special necessities and training in order to uplift their living standards.

This institution is to be located within the medical faculty premises of the Kelani University.This is
an education centre for disabled children in the Asian region with multi professional training  courses.This would be the first of its kind in a medical faculty having educational unit for disabled.

This institution would be located on an extent of 1 1/2 acres in Ragama . The  proposed building is to consist of 42000 square  feet area The expenditure to construct has been estimated at Rs 350 million ..

It is learnt that a part of this expense would be borne by Hemas Holdings group and the balance from donors.

The accounts would be audited by a private audit firm of accountants.

The name "Ayati" is a Sanskrit word the meaning of it is 'hope'.The aim of the institution "Ayati" is to allow the disabled children with special abilities to be thought to obtain maximum benefits.

At this inaugural instance the famous cricket stars Roshan Mahanama and Kumar Sangakkara had joined.It is learnt that the duo would  contribute by volunteering  to assist in the advertising activities.

The Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam had told the house today the 20th instant at a time when doctors had reacted strongly in their endeavour to find popular schools for their children and revealed  how the

 son of Dr Nalinda Herath the secretary of the GMOA was admitted.

The Minister had stated that Dr Nalinda Herath is a resident of Ibbagamuwa.In order to get his son admitted to Royal College had intentionally obtained a transfer.

Radeliyagoda exonerated in Sirisena-Chamila fabricated mud slinging story

The former general manager of the Independent Television Network Sudarman Radeliyagoda against whom a case was filed for slinging mud at Maithripala Sirisena during the period of the run up to the presidential election.In fact he had

presented himself a number of times in courts when this case was heard,

The fabricated story revolved between a 14 year old under aged boy and another person who was presumed to be his father.The allegation was for obtaining statements from the son and the father.The story revolved around this under aged 14 year old boy had been detained.This story had been made into a video and telecast a number of times to benefit former president Mahinda Rajapaksa in the then presidential election.

In this case Sudarman  Radekiyagoda and 11 others were charged.As the plaintiffs had not shown mush interest in this case.After referring to the Attorney General's department all of them were freed according to the instructions of the Additional Magistrate Aruni Artigalle on the 20th instant.

The symbol of Mahinda's new party is "White Lotus"

It has been confirmed that the symbol of the new party to be established under the leadership of Mahinda Rajapaksa  would be the "Whit Lotus"

In regard to the name of the party as there are new proposals the final decision has not been

arrived as yet.

The media has been made known of this by the convener of the representatives of the  joint opposition area administrative alliance Udeni Athukorale. The name of the of the party would be made in the near future. perhaps in the coming two weeks.The launching of the new party would be a certainty was the view of  all the representatives.

Drunken father with his drunkard friends rape her teenage daughter

It is reported from Hedogama in Anuradhapura an unfortunate incident where a drunken father raping his own 13 year old under aged girl with his drunken friends at his own residence.

In Kudagama area in Hidogama a 60 year old  drunkard father with three other friends have been

arrested and imprisoned for raping his 13 year old teenage daughter until the 26th of this month.

It is learnt that the disgraced daughter's mother had left her drunkard father a few years ago and living with another husband and she had lived in the house with the father the police had found on investigating.

The father who consumes a lot of liquor addicted to liquor sometimes used to have liquor friends at the own residence. In that sense a few days ago he had entertained his drunkard friend to have liquor at his residence.In the process of having liquor the father with two other friends had raped the thirteen year old girl.

Since she was frightened by the accused the girl had not disclosed of this ordeal to any of her classmates or the neighbours. But later she had conveyed this story to a relative in Wijepura area in Anuradhapura..The relative had complained this to the Anuradhapura police.

According to this complaint investigations had been conducted by the Hidogama police .The police after conducting investigations and questioning the suspects had arrested them.

The affected unfortunate  girl's father was found to be  is a civil security personnel and a civil worker of the army.The girl has been admitted to the Anuradhapura general hospital for medical examination while the police is conducting further investigations.

Youth who met with accident .... supposed to be a school friend of Nuwan

The motor cyclist who passed away after being run over by cricketer Nuwan Kulasekera's motor car in Ranmuthugala along the main road of Colombo - Kandy is someone who had his education in Nuwan's own school and knows him, it is reported. 

The deceased is an air-conditioner technician who met
with this tragic accident aged 28 years from Maimbula, Nittambuwa and is a bachelor. When evidence was called for yesterday, this is what cricketer Nuwan Kulasekera said: "This incident happened at about 3.30 pm yesterday Monday (19). I was travelling home from Gampaha. I passed Kirillawela and there was a bit of a traffic congestion. There was roughly a speed of about 50. I am unable to tell the speed exactly; but it wasn't a moment that one could go at top speed. Suddenly I noticed something coming from the island on the right side. Just then I felt it knocking the vehicle. I tried to take the vehicle to the left side and immediately I applied the brakes also. I stopped on the left hand side. From the side mirror I was able to see the crowd rocking. Only when I went there I saw a person fallen down. I stayed in the vehicle for less than a minute and then only I got down. I saw blood there and that an accident had taken place. I was overcome with fear. Leaving the vehicle there as it was I waited at a boutique until the police came .... because a person had already called the police. The police came and attended to their duties about the accident and after that I went with those officers to the police station and gave a statement. Went before the Magistrate also. Then was bailed out. On instructions by police I presented myself today (20). According to my knowledge this is something that is unavoidable. The accident happened so suddenly. But as a good citizen my obligation and duty is to do justice to the family of the victimized".

The mother of deceased Dinesh Aravinda (28) of Nittambuwa, the victim in this instance who was run over by the vehicle and passed away happens to be a school colleague of Nuwan Kulasekera, Dinesh's mother says. This is what she said by describing all that: "My son went to Ranpokunagama Maha Vidyalaya. He's very good for sports. That time he was mad over cricket. It's because of that he knows Nuwan Kulasekera. Nuwan also went to the same school that my son went. He used to speak so much about Nuwan. Later on he was admitted to Sanghabodhi Vidyalaya. There he was in the volleyball team also. I still can't think of what happened to my son. 

After the accident Nuwan Kulasekera's father too spoke to me over the telephone. Aney ... I told Nuwan's father: 'My son is now dead no ... whether he has a mistake on his hands or not ... save your son'. 

Whatever it is, according to what Kulasekera has mentioned, it has been possible to observe on inspection that the footrest of the motor cycle had got dragged several meters along the section at the point where it separated the road in which direction the motor cyclist had come. Under these circumstances the police say that a blunder on the part of Kulasekera cannot be detected so far. Nuwan Kulasekera was tested to ascertain whether he was under liquor. It has been confirmed that the results in that case turned out to be negative, police further said.

The post-mortem over the dead body was carried out by Dr. U.L.M.S. Perera of the Judicial Medical Unit of the Ragama Teaching Hospital and his medical report has been issued giving the verdict that death was caused as a result of injuries caused to the head having struck against a motor vehicle which was in motion. The lady coroner decided that the autopsy be postponed once again until the 1st of next month. The police were instructed to forward any evidence on that day.

External students will not get 2nd shy,150 new  engineering students admitted to Jayewardenapura Uni for the first time 

For the new academic year for the 2015/.2016  period for admission to students to Universities the authorities of the University Grants commission have been released the Z score marks on the 20th instant..

A special feature this year has been that in addition to the Z score marks released  in respect of the

separate districts ,the authorities of the University Grants Commission have notified those students in the separate districts who have been eligible to enter the respective universities.According to this new system the students have the opportunity to know to which universities they have been elected off hand.

As notified earlier in relation to the last years academic admissions this year the number of students entering the universities has been increased by 10 per cent as announced by the officials of the university grants commission.

Accordingly under the normal entrants 26541 students and 1062 under the additional entrants have been elected for admission.a total of 27603 are to be admitted.

It is reported that for the new syllabus of technol stream  about twelve thousand students had faced the examination.Among them 1825 students have been selected are to be admitted to the Sabaragamuwa university to commence this new degree at the technical division of the university.This unit at the Sabaragamuwa university the 150 students selected from the the technical streams would be admitted to other universities.

The studies on engineering technology,biology based technology, information communication technology, physical science, science on sea, food processing management,English as the second language are been introduced in this new academic year in the universities. To the Sri Jayewardenapura University 150 new engineering students will be absorbed.

.For every syllabus a .related study course from the above  has been given.The students could use own discretion to study the additional course.The students have been advised to register themselves over the internet only.The registration would be duly acknowledged via an SMS or an email

It has been also stated that a registered student who has been selected to a university needs to sit again next or to register only one of them is possible.But with the last year's registration it is not possible.A student's registration is valid for one year only.
