had disclosed about the sexual influence she had faced describing some in the following manner:-

Have you not been subjected to sexual influence?
"Oh no.I am a person who talk straight. If that happened to me I would have conveyed it to the media. One cannot clap with one hand.If any person makes any type of sexual influence we should not encourage. If any one invites we should know to decline them. However at the beginning of my career when I was new to the field one director wanted me to come alone. But I went with mother. As I went with mother I was not selected for the role in that film. One other femaleartiste was chosen for that role. That film has not been released yet."

Kavi-bana story: Is it a fake?

The point relevant to the news item under the topic "Elder sister and younger brother who recite kavi-bana to rescue mother's life" in a manner that generates sympathy of readers of certain websites and social media broadcast during the past few days has of course now been
subjected to some suspicion.

The said two children had been walking from village to village by reciting kavi-bana saying that Rs. 10 lakhs is necessary for a heart surgery of their mother. They had been collecting money for that purpose for this mother who was living in Somawathi area by reciting kavi-bana and a certain person by the name of Thilak Gamini had publicised a telephone number in the social media thus providing an opportunity for those who wished to donate funds for this cause. Minister of Health Mr. Rajitha Senaratna having seen this media propaganda had come forward to enquire about this matter. The Minister had employed his officers to enquire the necessary information required for treatment of Mrs. M.P. Indrani Deepa the said mother residing in Somapura area, Somawathiya, Polonnaruwa  while the Director General and Specialist of Health Services Dr. Palitha Mahipala Services had made a visit to this patient's home and looked into this matter recently (24) and had enquiringly inspected the medical reports, one by one. It has then been revealed that no recommendation has been made to perform the type of operation so said. Dr. Mahipala who communicated with Specialist Dr. Roshan Paranamanna of the Cardiology Unit of Polonnaruwa General Hospital had examined the refereed to medical reports over and over again and confirmed that a surgery is not necessary. However, under instructions of the Health Minister Dr. Mahipala had informed them and gone away after them giving the assurance of a further examination in relation to the weakness of the auricle of her heart and in addition, if deemed necessary, medical drugs and transport facilities would be provided free of charge all of which could be made available.

Some individuals had come forward with cash donations for the two children who earned money this way by reciting kavi-bana explaining the necessity to perform this heart surgery while most of them had done so with the ambition of thus engaging in an act of hospitality.

Whatever it is, it is not clear as to whether the funds were so collected with a bogus motive in mind or because the earlier factor mentioned by doctors in connection with the operation had misfired.

Two schoolgirls die in railway accident!

These days the younger generation is living a life bonded with their mobile phones and at times they tend to lose sight of the world outside beyond that.

Last night at approximately 7.30 two schoolgirls who tried to cross the railway track in Dehiwala were knocked down by a train and thus unfortunately succumbed to death. At the moment this tragic incident took place the two of them have had the earphones of their mobile phones connected to the ears and thus were deaf to external noises and had crossed the rail track oblivion to
the sound of the approaching train, those around the area had seen.

It was in a car that these two students had gone in the company of a group of friends to attend a birthday party of a younger sister of a school friend. The car in which they had been travelling was stopped near the marine drive road and they were on their way to the restaurant and they had to cross the railway track for that purpose. Before the other friends joined, these two had hastened towards the railway track while focusing attention to the conversation they were involved in over the mobile phone.

They were negligent enough to even notice a train which happened to be plying to Kalutara South from Maradana approaching in their direction and there was hardly any time to even beep the horn, witnesses to the accident had said. Most tragically the two schoolgirls who were thus knocked down by the train had got dragged along and had got run over while the train had then stopped and been reversed to inspect as to what really took place. It was seen that both girls had breathed their last on the spot because of the accident. Onlookers remarked that a male friend and some female friends had started wailing after seeing their dead bodies.

The two girls who were supposed to be studying at Holy Family Convent in their Advanced Level class had been identified as Imesha Yasara from Kelaniya and Sheron Svelin from Wellawatta and both were 18 years of age. The two dead bodies have been despatched to Kalubowila Hospital and further enquiries are being handled by Dehiwala Police.

Two schoolgirls die in railway accident in Dehiwala - Update 2

An incident which gave rise to a big uproar yesterday among the media where two schoolgirls embraced death by being knocked down by a train has by now given rise to various contrasting opinions among many people.

The said two schoolgirls had come to attend a night party held at Barcuda Restaurant situated
along Wasala Road, Dehiwala in a car belonging to one schoolgirl. The two victims had got off impatiently from the car even before the car was to be turned and stopped on a side of the marine drive road while their other friends were inside the vehicle. No sooner the two of them were approaching the railway track they had been patient enough to avoid a train which was plying towards Colombo on the other track while right at that moment a train coming on the other track had not been anticipated by them and had therefore continued to rush forward and thus meeting with this accident, it was reported. The two of them had noticed three of their friends who had come to the restaurant standing beyond the rail track and these two had wanted to surprisingly rush towards them even without caring to cast a glance at the oncoming train.

The marine drive road lying close to Wasala Road, Dehiwala where this accident took place is under repairs these days and therefore lampposts have not been functioning. As such the location where the accident took place is ill-lit, it was reported. After the train struck them, one body had got thrown to one side while the other body had got thrown to the other side. It was most unfortunate to note that both of them had breathed their last in the very presence of their own friends. Because of this accident they had all been seen wailing.

Certain people in the neighbourhood who expressed their opinions to the television media about the accident said that even though they shouted out words of caution to them they had continued crossing the tracks simply because they had not been able to hear their words as they were having earphones stuck to their ears. On contacting the website regarding the incident, what their schoolmates and a girl who was a relation said was that it was a lie that both the victims had earphones stuck to their ears. They admit that one of them had a phone in her hands and that just a few minutes before the accident Imesha had communicated with her mother. On this date Imesha's father was expected to be consulted by a doctor across a channeling service and therefore both her mother and father were at a private hospital at that ill-fated moment. Since both her parents were in the presence of the doctor it ultimately ended up as a missed call and later at the time the mother had tried to get across to her daughter the unfortunate accident had already happened, it was reported.

Some of those who examined the incident across CCTV said that this incident resembles a case of suicide carried out on purpose. But according to the survey carried out by the police, they say that it has been confirmed that the victims had crossed the railway tracks negligently, with their earphones stuck to their ears.

Which ever of these interpretations turn out to be correct or incorrect, even before making a start to a graceful journey of their young lives, these two blossoms have thus withered away before that. Imesha is the only girl in a family where she had to leave her two brothers. Her father is the chief of three companies. In the case of the other victim Sharon, her mother is not among the living and Sharon had been living with her father and brother. Both Imesha and Sharon aged 18 years have being studying in the Arts stream at Bambalapitiya Holy Family Convent in the Advanced Level class and they were expected to sit for the exam next August. It was reported that Advanced Level educational activities of their school was to finish on the day of their demise.

Their final rites are expected to be held tomorrow Thursday (28). It is a stroke of destiny for us to record that both friends had to go on their last journey together at Borella Kanatta.
