US dollar passes Rs 140/- yesterday
In comparison to the Sri Lanka rupee the US dollar fetched over rupees 140 last afternoon. In the annals of history this is the first time the US dollar has passed the 140 rupee mark.
In the recent past the dollar value has been increasing by four to five rupees gradually. As a result most of the imported goods are likely to go up invariably the importers have added.
The reason has been attributed to the fact the authorities of the Central Bank has allowed the rupee to float at will in the recent past.
