Priority Lanes System tested in Rajagiriya approved for several lanes including Galle Road, Thummulla
Indicating that an experiment conducted as the Priority Lanes System for buses carried out recently from Rajagiriya Junction to Ayurveda Junction turned out to be a success, the government has taken a decision to implement a permanent Bus Priority Lane in order to encounter traffic congestion. As such, only buses would be plying in that particular lane within the relevant time-
period. The proposal brought forward in this connection by Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka was approved by the group of Ministers. As such, in future during busy periods it has been arranged to operate the Bus Priority Lane System in the undermentioned sections of roads:

1) The Bus Priority Lane in Galle Road -- from Moratuwa to Ratmalana and from Wellawatta Bridge upto Colpetty spreading out towards Colombo;
2) The Bus Priority Lane along Parliament Road -- from Parliament Junction via Rajagiriya, Borella, Maradana and Pettah upto Colombo Fort spreading out to Colombo.
3) The Bus Priority Lane in Colombo -- from Air Force Roundabout in Chittampalam A. Gardiner Mawatha upto Colombo Pettah spreading out towards Colombo.
4) The Bus Priority Lane from Thummulla Junction upto Museum Junction spreading out towards Colombo.
5) The Bus Priority Lane from Eye Hospital Roundabout upto Thummulla Junction spreading out from Colombo.
