Though President had made such a proposal in order to minimise public pressure at a time such as a strike by employing the professional experience and know-how that Mr. Sarath Fonseka possesses for the purpose of maintaining essential services with the co-operation of the three Forces, it was stated at that point that there are no legal provisions required to bestow such a position or appointment.
