Warrant issued on Sarath Kumar Gunaratne

In connection with the investigation commenced on the misappropriation of funds incident on the Negombo lagoon development project  warrants have been issued by the additional magistrate Colombo Chandana Kulasuriya on the former deputy minister of fisheries and aquatic resources Sarath Kumar Gunaratne and 05 others.Although they were requested to be present at the criminal investigating unit only one working supplier of the fisheries corporation had been present He
had been remanded until the 23rd of this month.

It is reported that Sarath Kumar Gunaratne and 05 others are  accused for misappropriating Rs 112 lakhs from the funds allocated for the development of the Negombo lagoon development project.The former deputy minister of fisheries and aquatic resources and 05 others have been issued with warrants.

The complaint had been made to the Magistrates courts Colombo by the authorities of the Presidential Commission on serious fraud and corruption.
