Is it to Minister Sagala that the IGP addressed "Sir"? Is Nilame ... Mahesh Gunasekera?

Is it to Minister Sagala that the IGP addressed "Sir"? Is Nilame ... Mahesh Gunasekera?

The Inspector General of Police Pujitha Jayasundera had been addressing a ceremony held to commemorate the Police Day in Ratnapura day-before-yesterday when he happened to receive a call and he had answered the call at a distance where he could be over the microphone. Since something was
apparently understood from matters discussed in that instance, it has been publicised by the media and by now a complex situation has sprung forth.

When reckoning what was said at the other end of the phone, it is felt that it was an order which implied that the IGP spoke to a Minister and the latter ordered him not to take into custody a certain person who was to come to the FCID to make a statement. MP of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayaka expressed his idea in this context saying that it could be Minister Sagala Ratnayaka whom the IGP referred to as "Sir" to whom he addressed. On the other hand it was Devinuwara Basnayaka Nilame Mahesh Gunasekera who was referred to as 'Nilame' about whom a promise was made by the IGP not to arrest, suspected MP Wimalaweera Dissanayaka, in parliament.

This episode had been viewed across Rupavahini channel by the President too and MP Wimalaweera Dissanayaka inquired from the President who was present in parliament yesterday on which occasion the President admitted that the manner in which the IGP had comported himself and stated that he would look into this matter. The video in relation to this incident, from below
