7.4 Richter scale magnitude earthquake strikes Japan,Tusnami situ withdrawn- Sri Lankans safe
In Sri Lanka time today morning in the wee hours at 2.30 am along the eastern coastal belt in Japan a 7.4 Richter scale magnitude had struck.Immediately a Tsunami situation had been declared .It had struck in the sea close to the Fukushima power plant which was immediately closed down as the waves had risen to over two feet.
This situation had arisen in Japan on Tuesday at around 6 am and after sun was out most people had been able to escape from the area.
In the vicinity of Fukushima there had been waves about 3.3 ft in height had been announced by

It is reported that the earthquake had struk 25 kilometres below the earth surface in the sea.In the year 2011 about five years back a similar earthquake that struck Japan had claimed the lives of 18,000 persons.
It is reported that because of the previous experience a large number of people had left their dwellings.The extent of damages caused has not been reported yet.
It is reported reliably by the Sri Lankan Ambassador Professor Ganganath Dissanayake that from the earthquake no Sri Lanka had been affected.
