Attorney General's department files action against Tissa Attanayake
The Officials of the Attorney General's department has file court action at the Colombo magistrate's courts against the former Member of parliament and the former General Secretary of the United National Party on the afternoon of the 08th instant against three charges.
The former MP and the General Secretary of the UNP has been accused of producing fake documents at a media briefing held on the 22nd December 2014 on the run up to the presidential election held on
the 08th January 2015 to the affect by saying that there is a secret agreement signed between the then opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe and the common candidate Maithripala Sirisena.By disclosing such a fake statement he had defied the presidential election act and the penal code which is an offence to be punished. Hence the magistrates courts have been informed accordingly.
By this act the results of the presidential election could be changed, there could be ethnic conflicts by dividing the ethnic groups.Hence these three charges have been directed at Tissa Attanayake. The officials of the Attorney General's office had also disclosed that by this International civil and political relationships were tarnished.
