"I now wait to see Australia win" - Murali's father
Australia's Herald Sun Newspaper had contacted Muralitharan's father and obtained a statement basing it on the dispute where Sri Lanka's cricketer Murali was involved with Sri Lanka's authorities and also his appointment as a Temporary Coach of Australia in the Murali - Warne Tournament on which occasion Murali's father had made some debatable comments. The
newspaper has identified Murali's father, Mr. Sinnasamy as the owner of the third biggest biscuit factory in Sri Lanka. This is what he said when he was interviewed through a Tamil-English translator:"When I used to watch matches those days on TV I liked to see Sri Lanka winning. That's because my son was playing. But now Murali is a coach in Australia. So because of that what I like is son's side winning. Shouldn't it be so? Even by now it's seen that he attends to his duties successfully. At the last match, O'Keefe bagged 10 wickets. His success was praised by Australian newspapers while talking high of our son's skill. That's a pride for me.
Look at this ... I'll keep a coin at the edge of this glass (he keeps a coin). If our son is asked to bowl to knock the coin off without the ball coming in contact with the glass .. he can do that. I am a father who is always happy about his exploits. Sri Lanka's cricket has now collapsed. The main reason for that is Politics. After Murali left; and after Sangakkara and Mahela left ... the team gradually fell. Politicians interfere beyond limits. That's the reason for the decline. There's a spin-bowler coach at the moment in Sri Lanka. Murali was invited by Australia. There's no reason why he should refuse".
