Two families split apart because of bank officer video circulating across internet

Because of a certain video which became public during recent times across the Facebook in Sri Lanka about an illicit association between two individuals attached to a private bank, their family lives had been busted and a great calamity has occured, it is now reported.

The said video which is linked to a popular and newly established bank in the capital of how an illicit and intimate association was going on

It is learned that this young bank officer is someone who works in the capacity of a Senior Bank Assistant in this bank while the young girl concerned is a clerk who joined the service as a clerical hand just about 2 years back. After the two of them became attached, instead of selecting external places for their rendezvous they had selected the bank itself as being the most suitable place but which ultimately signalled the beginning of their ruin. Bank activities were in operation on Saturdays for only half-a-day at this department where this young man was and only a handful of employees were working on such instances there. Since the room used for the meetings of the couple was a security room where those coming in and going out were focused upon by the CCTV cameras installed there, it was on those days that an opportunity was easily available for them to indulge in the activities concerned.

With the aid of a software where video activities inherent in mobile phones were not possible to be detected, a telephone had been erected in advance and this officer had been sharp enough to have the moments when he was intimate with the young clerk being taped; this being for his entertainment. It is understood that he had been motivated with some sort of mental necessity to enjoy the taped contents of the video over and over again.

Whatever it is, this illicit liason had reached the ears of the management within a short space of time and an enquiry had taken place on an official level too. Later it was the young clerk who had been penalised in the case. She had then been sacked from the bank about 2 years before this. Subsequently the bank officer had been reprimanded and was granted permission to carry on his duties. During the period the investigations were taking place the officer had taken measures to delete the telephone video files and he was in turn compelled to keep all that away from his memory too. It is not reported that he had met the said clerk anymore. In fact she had entered into marriage while wedding bells had rung for the officer as well.

As all evil transpire as a result of the blunder of this telephone, a 'phone malli' from a leading suburb in Colombo was summoned to attend to repairs of the telephone concerned. The 'phone malli' who was accustomed to tracing and reading all existing and erased files of all phones entrusted to him with the use of a software had to his surprise come across these files embedded with fantastic fun. He had then transferred the files clandestinely to another location and had attended to the blemish and handed over the telephone once more to the officer. The 'phone malli' in turn had been motivated to entertain himself in the company of some of his friends by going through those files secured by him. It was one of his friends who had taken steps to release the said videos to the internet later. Because of this act of his it finally turned out as a fire which burnined right round.

By now the bank officer, not to mention the girl involved have both faced a situation where they are not able to face the society. In addition, their family life too has gone on the rocks. A special police team has been assigned to carry out investigations into this matter already and the 'phone malli' too has left his shop some time ago, it is reported. It has still not been possible to get at him. Though it is possible to trace those who exchanged these things and legal action could be taken, it is the opinion of legal experts that the legal framework in relation to such matters are not tough enough for such a purpose.

Whatever it is, this is not the first instance when an illicit connection such as this had occured on the agreement of both parties and it is no secret that while thousands of incidents happening daily in numerous ways with related videos those do not leak out to the society.  Because of publicity which has created damage to a person's privacy, what has culminated in this case is the bond of two families being shattered and the goodwill of the work-place too on the other hand being damaged.
