Rajagiriya accident CCTV file deleted

The case regarding Minister Mr. Patali Champika Ranawaka where a young boy had got knocked down fron a jeep belonging to the Minister was brought up in Colombo Traffic Magistrate's Court yesterday. On that occasion Welikada Police informed courts that
the CCTV footage found at the location of the incident had got erased or deleted. They therefore said that for this reason they are unable to confirm as to whether it was Minister Patali or the driver who was in the vehicle. They also mentioned that they interrogated Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka and got a statement from him in relation to the incident. 

Though the police said that they made enquiries and secured reports on 3 phone numbers of the Minister, what lawyers appearing on behalf of the youth told courts was that since the phone numbers given by the Minister were those that are ones not being used by him at that time, such information provided by him may be free from the truth. At that moment lawyers of the prosecution party of the youth provided 2 phone numbers to the courts supposed to have been used by the Minister. The Colombo Traffic Magistrate then ordered that those phone numbers too be checked and to call for a report.
