Lights go off even during ....
President's meeting
These days power-cuts occur without any regularity. Even when it has been announced across the media that there is no power-cut, there are instances when there is a breakdown in the supply of electricity all of a sudden with power being
restored after a number of hours and the public has now had to make up their minds without getting upset. The public as such have now got used to power-cuts.During the moment when President Maithripala Sirisena was addressing the public at the North West 'Suwa Vishistatha' Award Ceremony held at the Provincial Council Auditorium last evening, there was a breakdown in electricity supply. Under these circumstances the President was compelled to carry on his speech all in darkness while the awarding of souvenirs too had to be done with the aid of light focused on stage, it was reported. It was also said that the generator of the auditorium too was not functioning. About 6 hours after the power-cut, electricity was restored to the auditorium.
It is still not reported whether the President has taken steps to appoint a committee or subject those who had not attended to refuelling of the generator in these circumstances. Now even the President apparently is not worried about power-cuts.
