Action filed against Chief Incumbent of Abayarama Temple for using temple premises for political activities
The Colombo chief district Magistrate TD Gunasekera has issued summons and a caution to the Chief Incumbent of Sri Abayarama Temple Narahenpita Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda thera to appear before courts on the 15th instant. This summons and the caution notice
had been issued on the 1st instant to the thera to investigate into a complaint that the temple premises are been used for political and trade activities.The complaint has been made by the Viharadipathi of Sri Abayarama temple,Kirillapone Sri Poorvarama Viharaya and Ubaya Viharaya Ven Pathberiye Wimalagnana thera.The district Judge had taken into consideration all facts mentioned in the complaint and acted accordingly to issue summons to Ven Muruththettuwe Ananda thera to appear before courts.
Ven Pathberiye Wimalagnana thera had added that the Sri Abayarama temple belongs to the Dhamma Maha Sanga Sabha and Ven. Murutettuwe Ananda thera has no authority to allow the premises for political and trade activities.The ven Murutettuwe Ananda had exercised powers much beyond his authority it is reported.
It is also reported that Ven.Murutettuwe Ananda thera had acted in a manner to bring disrepute to the temple premises by the actions that had taken place.The petitioner had send a restraining order to stop all political and trade activities that are been conducted in the premises of the Sri Abeyarama temple.
The petitioner had also reminded that in year 1988 after a trade union clash am armed gang had murdered a person and a similar incidents could be avoided it the temple premises is not allowed for political,trade union and trade functions.
