'Pohottuwa' will win;
0 to SLFP -- fortune-teller who predicted President's death ... speaks out once more

Vijith Rohana Wijemuni who even had to end up in jail for the offence of leading the public astray and thus created a sensation having predicted the death of the President which actually did not hit the mark has once again wagged his mouth saying
that it is 'Pohottuwa' which would be victorious and that UNP would come second with not even a single to the Alliance.

He voices his prediction by saying that on election day of next February 10th, the majority of urban councils and provincial councils would be clinched by Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna and that the united National Party would be victorious in gaining some seats by coming second. He has ended up by saying that the Eksath Janatha Nidahas Sandanaya headed by President Maithripala Sirisena at this election or Sri Lanka Freedom Party would not be able to win even a single seat in local government.

Trump's domestic implications brought out by recently-launched book!

A latest book titled Fire and Fury focusing attention on American President Donald Trump has revealed a number of points concerning Trump. This publication authored by American correspondent Michael Wolf portrays an interview with about 200
persons in service at White House inclusive of Trump himself.

In this case not only information about Trump's election campaign, inter relationships with Russia, foreign alliances of Trump but even domestic matters pertaining to Trump have been exposed. According to this book, Trump is a lonely character and it goes to say that other than Ivanka Trump, one child he has had from all his three marriages, he hardly has any connection with none of the others. Wolf in his book says that even with Ivanka, the connection he has with her is simply limited to 'business' matters. Ivanka and her husband have carried out a significant service for Trump's election campaign. In addition, her husband Gerard Kushner functions in an official capacity as a major advisor of the President.

Wolf's publication further mentions that President Trump and his wife maintain a somewhat distance between the two. Wolf reveals that after the Presidential elections the two and a half month period that passed by until they had gone into occupation at the White House, they had lived in the same place (Trump Tower) together; however by meeting each other on a random basis as such. Further, during the period spent before Trump launched his Presidential battle has resulted in Melonia undergoing some inconvenience because of changes in her living conditions keeping away from common activities, it is understood. Ultimately Wolf reveals that when Presidential results were drawing nigh, she had wept for not being able to keep a distance from common activities anymore.

Hashini Ratnayaka in police custody on alleged of fraud of gold jewellery worth 1 million!

Hashini Ratnayaka (31) who became the target of much talk about getting married to a distinguished singer sometime back was taken into custody by Tangalla Police this morning (9) over an incident involving alleged misappropriation of gold jewellery.

The 31 year old suspect had after marrying the veteran singer had bid goodbye to her occupation and had been
in service as an officer of People's Bank, Tangalla from 14.11.2012 to 22.04.2016 and it has been revealed from investigations carried out recently that she is exposed to suspicion of being responsible for a fraud of gold jewellery close upon one million (Rs. 9,89,000) during her tenure of service at the said bank. Accordingly the present manager of the said bank has lodged a complaint with Tangalla Police station and subsequently when the police has made an attempt to contact her, she has spent her time evading it.

A court order was issued to take her into custody and interrogate her after which she had appeared at Tangalla police headquarters today (9) through an attorney-at-law and she was then taken into custody. Further inquiries are proceeding in this matter.

"Some person from somewhere has credited money to my son's account -- Gayan

After the Gayan - Roshan involvement became a popular topic during the recent past, an uproar about Roshan - Ridma took prominence in more recent times. During this hulabaloo Roshan's new mother-in-law had been praising him and had remarked that he was a virtuous actor who had gone to the extent of even
helping the child who was left helpless by Gayan. Gayan who was hurt by this story to some extent has made his response sometime back across a newspaper by questioning what right some person somewhere out of the blues to remit funds to his son's account. Gayan further exposes how Roshan who launched various rumours already about him has become a participant of those unpleasant results. This is how those hassles were noted.

* There's news that Gayan and Chathurika have gone into occupation in a new house ...?
Yes. We went into occupation last month to the house which we started building for so many years. The house was built in Talawatugoda. There's little more things to be completed in the house. We are a little busy these days over that work.

* From time to time Chathurika's and Gayan's name come out connected to some incident or the other ... these days also ... names of both of you have cropped up?
This what you ask I didn't know till evening. I didn't care to pay attention about it. When considering the activities we have it's not possible to run behind those third grade issues. But I saw those things that were said. Then actually what came to my mind was Buddha's sermons. If something is sown ... it's to that extent the harvest has to be reaped. Actually we are free from the problems we had. People who created problems for us are entangled in those problems.

* That particular party has mentioned in social media that because Gayan does not care or look after the younger child, they volunteered to give a helping hand.
Those are two cents stories. When there's no side to cling to ... some people make those two cents stories like that. In another two or three years fans in our country would be able to see some nice things. People who say that my child was cared for ... they'll have to go without clothes. When their clothes drop off ... if there's someone who are close to them ... that person also will keep a distance. Only during the period when the barrel of paint topples it's treated as the king. When the paint is washed off little by little, the true situation comes out. I of course hand all these things to the passage of time.

* This person ... has he/she credited money to bank accounts?
I can treat my two sons to the maximum. Chathurika treats these sons to the maximum possible. Other than that ... how can this person from the blues have a motherly or fatherly feeling without a mother or father? If at all such a feeling develops ... it doesn't come other than for a financial gain. The attempt to remit money to bank accounts was with the motive of throwing mud at me. Now those issues are about 5 years' old. Truly we don't have time to get involved in matters like this. That person is talking about something credited in 2013 as if it's in 2017. This really is a shameful matter. When about 2 years pass the person who says those things should be living in Sri Lanka. If not, that person has to leave Sri Lanka. Why is that? It's because those problems are those which have been brought upon by those people themselves.

Wickramatilleka or Chathurika Peiris have not begged money from anybody. We haven't begged money from women abroad or from women in Sri Lanka either. We live from the money that we have earned by the sweat of our brow. But if somebody has cheated even a rupee from someone, he or she would face dire consequences in this life itself.

* What you say is that this person's pedigree would be exposed?
Definitely. I am being bombarded with mud being thrown at me from 2012, 2013. I didn't want to say a word about it. The whole of Sri Lanka began to assume that Gayan and Chathurika are two people who have committed so many wrongs. We can't even insert a photo in Facebook ... they respond with harsh comments ... reprimand me saying 'man who went forgetting the children'. But I waited handing over everything to the passage of time, waiting to see what was going to happen. Those people who planned all those things are now throwing mud at each other.

* What you imply is that it is that person who slung mud at Gayan and Chathurika in the past?
We were demeaned by speaking to the media and bribing them. Some people have been paid dinars and we were defamed after preplanning everything. Now Dittadhammavedaniya karma is showing them the results.

* Even after so many years have elapsed ... what does Chathurika say about this 'mud-throwing'?

We are recipients of a mud-throwing attack for so long now. We of course kept to ourselves. It was during that period that we happen to see a video on YouTube. When we saw what was there we couldn't help laughing. Actually we are not going to delve into those things. Whatever it is, they have exposed their pedigree to the whole of this country and in the presence of society as well.

* Elder son is with you Gayan isn't it ... do you pay attention to the younger son as well?
Yes. I look into younger son too. I put them into school and was attending to their work. But the younger one wanted to go to his mother. He made it very clear that he wants to go to his mother. Elder son said that he wanted to be with appachchi. Now the small one is getting on well on his own. Elder son is getting on by himself. The two of them have no problem at all. It's to outside other people to whom this matter has become a problem. If I or the children have nothing to complain, why did this become a problem to others?

Former President expressed his opinion yesterday over the telephone with the BBC channel regarding the tenure of President Maithri which has been the topic of discussion these days.

In fact what he said was that according to his opinion President Maithripala should comply with the
19th amendment and complete his tenure of office by 5 years. If it does not come into force, if according to what attorney general says, the incumbent President was to remain in power for 6 years and give up his powers in 2021; then old regulations where Madam Chandrika and himself could claim Presidentship for the third time is valid. The announcer then queried whether he is prepared to contest again and the response was "So ... let's see". The said interview, from below

When attached to mortgage section in bank ... Hashini has allegedly pilfered gold jewellery and replaced them with imitation ones

Present wife of accomplished singer Mr. Victor Ratnayaka, Hashini Ratnayaka had to be imprisoned yesterday as a result of a fraud committed during her tenure at Tangalla People's Bank.

During her service there at the bank she was posted to the pawn brokering department and what is stated in the complaint is that Hashini has robbed gold jewellery to the value of about Rs. 6,80,000
from a bank customer employed in Kuwait who had pawned those items and in addition gold jewellery to the tune of about Rs. 6 lakhs from another bank customer in Tangalla.

When inspecting the bank safe, it was revealed that the Kuwait lady's gold jewellery was found totally missing while imitation gold articles similar to the genuine jewellery deposited by the Tangalla customer were detected in the safe concerned. The police state that suspicions were aroused from CCTV evidence provided by the bank manager. It was after an investigation conducted subsequent to two complaints lodged with Tangalla Police in the year 2016 when the manager of the bank was called upon to provide this said evidence and the complaints had been made by the female who is engaged in the capacity of a house-maid and the other person. The 2 persons have pawned these gold articles in the year 2014.

The female serving in Kuwait had arrived in this country in 2016 on a holiday and had gone to the bank for the purpose of redeeming the gold articles pawned by her; and having realised that those were not available there, had then complained about it to police and later the bank too has lodged a complaint about the same incident to the police. When bank internal investigations were underway, it was reported that it was possible to recover gold-plated articles (instead of genuine gold items) worth around Rs. 6 lakhs that had been pawned by the other person.

The suspect was accused on offences of cheating while engaged in State service, misappropriation and breach of trust under the Act of Common Property and was produced before courts and remanded for a period of 1 week.

Inquiry about filing case against old cheating incident ... during present time

The present wife of popular singer Victor Ratnayaka was involved in a fraud amounting to over Rs. 12 lakhs at the time she was employed at Tangalla People's Bank pawn-brokering section had recently presented her to police in the company of an attorney-at-law and was subsequently taken into custody after which she was produced before
Tangalla Magistrate Court. Thereafter she was remanded till 17th of this month. However, a hidden side of the story has been focused upon by the police by now in this connection.

Hashini Nilakshi Ratnayaka is suspected as being responsible for this fraud committed during the period 2014 to 2016. However, suspicion has now cropped up as to why this fraud which took place years ago has got so delayed to come before the law when the offence should have been tackled much earlier.

Investigations have revealed that she is responsible for a financial fraud of Rs. 12,80,000 at the time she was attached to the pawn-brokering unit of the said bank and the manager of this branch has initially notified the police in the year 2016 regarding this particular cheating incident. It is impossible to understand as to why Tangalla Police has not taken any action over this matter for over one-half years. This incident of being taken into custody however as been effected later when this investigation activities were launched by Tangalla Special Investigation Unit under supervision of police superintendent Mr. K.G.L. Geethal. A suspicion lurks whether the delay that resulted was caused by the complainant lady in possession of those gold articles being overseas or whether the issue was delayed having bribed the petitioner or police or instead some attempt has been made to settle the problem.

Victor's son Lelum spoke out across a YouTube video in the month of March 2017 speaking to the media for the first time saying that "Father gave money and with that saved her". In this instance superintendent of police, in charge of Tangalla division Mr. K.G.L. Geethal has said that he would be conducting an inquiry regarding whether police officers have delayed investigations on purpose in that instance. It is reported that prior to this too a statement has been secured from suspect Hashini who was in service at the bank at that time, relating to this incident.

Susil Premjayanth finds the 103 bond report pages which Gammanpila made to vanish!

Leader of Pivithuru Hela Urumaya Mr. Udaya Gammanpila has on a number of occasions previously stated asking for an explanation  as to how 103 pages of the Bond Report has vanished and participating at a rally yesterday (22) has once again brought out this subject saying: "We exposed to the public that 103 pages of the Bond Report have gone missing. So far no leader of State has made any comment on this. It was announced that until attorney general's instructions are received on some sensitive points included in the Report President's Secretary has decided to release it to the internet. It was so reported in a certain website yesterday. If the second annexure has been removed ... it should be specifically displayed. We have a justified suspicion that points disadvantages to the Prime Minister or MP Ravi Karunanayaka have been hidden in these 103 pages'.

Though he says that nobody has made a comment in this respect, MP Susil Premjayanth has has responded in this connection last Saturday itself. "A certain politician has said at a political meeting that according to news they have received, entire contents of this whole thing has not come out while another says that 103 pages are missing. I now have this Report with me. I didn't take this from parliament ... it's from the internet. According to this, it's available from beginning to end: 17 - 24, 24 - 35 and so on. I'll show the last page. Members of the commission have signed on the 946th page of this. From that onwards there are a further 206 pages as annexures. The total of both these are 1152 pages ... nothing short. If the parliament or the COPE committee so desires, they can get it down. I ask from politicians who express ideas like that to study well and then express their ideas".

Ladies wish to purchase liquor -- a different case filed by Swarna too

Sometime back a gazette was issued by the Ministry of Finance granting permission for ladies to purchase liquor and the President intervened in that instance and a petition was filed today at supreme courts for the second time against it. Distinguished actress Swarna Mallawaarachchi together with 20
others had filed this petition and in the petition it was mentioned that the necessity for ladies to consume liquor should not be disregarded and saying that ladies do not have a similar right as much as men would demean the female folk and it is a violation of human rights.

Prior to this, actress Samanali Fonseka of the new generation including 11 others had filed similar action through a different petition and both petitions would be taken into consideration in the future, it is hoped.

Human rights activist Menaka Galgamuwa who placed her signature to the said petition said that the 1979 constitution has treated women with a different spoon and had thereby humiliated them. "This is not about women who consume liquor. Nowhere is it stated in the law of 1979 that women cannot consume liquor. As far as the men-folk could purchase liquor ... the women-folk could consume liquor". Among those who placed their signatures to the petition are pioneer chairman of Ladies Commercial Board Claude de soysa and social activist Savithri Rodrigo.

Because Pohottuwa won ... SLFP dissolved in parliament -- one section for the Opposition and one supports UNP

According to local government election results on the victory clinched by Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna, party oranisation of SLFP at grassroot level has collapsedand for this reason SLFP has a bleak future. As a result, refugee MPs of the SLFP have had to join hands with the optional group in order to remain in parliament. This group have destroyed their provincial image by having changed
their political parties and by reasons of leaving the party and as a result there appears to be a risk whether they would be winners if they contest a vote again.

In this perspective what political sources predict is that one group would give their support to the UNP who are anticipating to rebuild the party and would ultimately join with the UNP while another group would take their seat in the Opposition with the United Opposition or 'Pohottuwa'.

Political sources comment that as such, the majority of them would support the UNP. Duminda Dissanayaka, Mahinda Amaraweera, S.B. Dissanaika, Sarath Amunugama, Vijithamuni Soysa, Manusha Nanayakkara, Thilanga Sumathipala, Sriyani Wijewickrama are among the lot who would be switching over to the UNP. Reports say that John Seneviratna, Lakshman Yapa, Susil Preajayantha, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Nimal Siripala would take their seats with the Opposition.

How Indian media reported Rajapaksa's victory

The victory clinched by Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna last Saturday at the mini elections and descriptions about Sri Lanka's future political path has begun to be displayed in foreign media and India being the closest country, it was mentioned there that with Rajapaksa clinching this victory it was reported that he was anticipating a
parliamentary election.

'Daily News Alert' points out that the Maithri regime was installed under the promise saying that injustice to Tamils of Sri Lanka would be solved and that various debates sprung up in that connection but what Maithri could only do was only a small part of work in that respect. Rajapaksa who has won a name as the leader among the majority would come into power with racial publicity and such an environment could not be envisaged any further with his presence, it has been predicted. In the meantime, what 'The Hindu' newspaper reports is that a party which was elected in 2016 achieved such popularity because of the Rajapaksa image. It is further stated there that this victory has created a shock in Sri lanka's political atmosphere and that the incumbent regime has got into a mess in order to retain its power until 2020. Therefore, it has been reported that steps would be taken to make changes and adjustments in the near future.

First 'aadivasi' female representative

An 'aadivasi' female came forward as a candidate for the first time in Sri Lankan history contesting the provincial council elections from the Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna for the Dehaththakandiya -- Henanigala South and North multiple seats.

This candidate is W.M. Shiromala and is 37 years of
age. She has had her education upto the General Certificate of Education ordinary level and happens to be a mother of 3 children. She has been able to win 1369 votes and has etched her name as the first 'aadivasi' as the public representative.

This is what she exclaimed about her victory: "What I have to first say is that people in our group have a lot of issues that still have not been solved. But all those problems can't be solved. I'll make an effort to solve at least a few of them. In the same way it is by pinning that faith on me that they appointed me. Because of that I don't want to see those hopes lost. My only objective is to give my utmost co-operation to our culture, religion which are diminishing and to give the same support to the development of the country and also to come forward at forthcoming provincial council and parliamentary elections also".
