Father in kennel because he dirties himself!
Daughter who did so .... rears dogs in great comfort inside house!
Balagolla Police has arrested a woman in Kengalla, Panchapitiya area in Kandy for having treated her own father in a cruel manner for a period of 2 years inside a kennel while 7 dogs of a high breed had been reared as pets inside a room in the house.
This heart-rending situation was exposed to a police officer of Balagolla Police who had visited the house concerned to check any locations where potential breeding of dengue mosquitoes could take place. After the Police Officer-in-Charge was notified about this phenomenon the said woman had been apprehended. This father who was at the receiving end of her daughter's inhuman treatment for 2 years was fortunate enough to be hospitalized with the intervention of the police.
It was revealed that the woman concerned had resorted to giving meals to her father who was in the kennel in the very same manner that the dogs were fed, it was revealed during interrogation. The woman who was taken into police custody had put her father inside the kennel for fear that her children would contract diseases as the father happened to pass stools inside the house and thereby dirty the house and had revealed all this to the police as if what she used to do was not an offence of any sort. When examining the house the police were able to find 4 puppies of a high-class breed and 7 dogs all inclusive in addition to food of the best kind and several types of medicines too.
This 42 year old woman is a mother of 3 children and it came to be known that her husband and the mother were in service overseas. The police say that the father of this woman, Sumanapala aged 73 years was not suffering from any sickness other than his condition of debility because of his age. He is someone who had served at a leading restaurant in Kandy. The Balagalla Police officer who visited the said house spoke over the telephone to the mother of the woman of this house who was overseas and had explained to her how the aged husband was confined to a kennel. On that occasion what she had said was that she may have put him in the kennel this way because her husband keeps dirtying all over the house and because it was a worry for her daughter.
The woman who spoke further about this went on to say that the bitch in the house had littered and since she had to care for the bitch and the puppies in which instance she had overlooked her father's duties. This woman, M.P. Manori Chamila Hewage who was produced in courts yesterday (13) was ordered to be remanded until next 19th by Kandy Magistrate.
