Sri Lanka is the monopoly between a few people in the Tele drama production field. The director of "Vinivida" Tele drama Priyantha Fernando had expressed his views to a newspaper interview. Some of the facts revealed by him are appended below:
In certain government owned television channels the Tele dramas for telecast are chosen by just three high officers. From the year 2007 to date in 2015 starting from "Muthukirillie" all the mega Tele dramas that were telecast had been directed by just five Tele drama directors.
The other directors of Tele dramas have no place. The tactics deployed by the producers are registering the name of family members as new producers. Hence the same producer completes two Tele dramas under two different names disguising and misleading the other producers in the field. They achieve their targets in this fake manner. This makes the other producers to be fools. This is a mega Tele drama mafia. The same technical staff, those behind the screen. The same actors and actresses portray characters.
With the former President's ruling the mega Tele drama was restricted to 100 episodes. There are about 4000 in this industry who's livelihood is from this industry.
