Champika and Wijedasa to constitutional council
It is reported that as the representative of the constitutional council Patali Champika Ranawaka has been appointed to represent the president Maithripala Sirisena while to represent Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe,Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa has been appointed.According to the 19th amendment to the constitution passed in the parliament the constitutional council should comprise of 10 members.
They should comprise of the Speaker,Prime Minister, Leader of the opposition, representative of the President, representative of the Prime Minister, representative of the opposition leader,representative of minor parties and three persons from the civil society named as civil society representative 1,2 and 3 respectively.
