Sirisena later said that victory of Alliance was sabotaged ....
knowing about insecurity -- Udaya Gammanpila
Udaya Gammanpila, MP of Pivithuru Hela Urumaya who writes a letter to a weekend newspaper this time under the caption 'What happened to the 58 votes of Mahinda?' says that he and his group were on their way on a victory path during the past General Election and that the President Maithripala had
taken steps to sabotage it and that the President himself had admitted it later. What he says at one stage of the letter is, having come to know after a survey carried out prior to the General Election that the UPFA was to win, he had taken steps to refuse Premiership to Mahinda and to dismiss the Secretaries on purpose and that it was exposed from the mouth of the President himself when addressing the group of SLFP MPs.
Udaya Gammanpila speaks about in this manner:
"It was President Sirisena who made the real exposure about this. He had addressed the MPs of the SLFP and said, there were survey reports to say that the Alliance would secure 110 to 115 Seats at the end of the last week. 'When giving ear to what some speakers of the Alliance say, I felt a sense of insecurity. It was because of that I was motivated say that Mahinda won't be given the position of Prime Minister and to remove the Secretaries', the President is supposed to have said.
