Somaweera files action against UPFA for nominating the national list
The Vice President of the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) Somaweera Chandrasiri has file action in the Supreme court today for a human rights violation case for selecting the National list of
the UPFA without consulting the executive committee of the UPFA.In his petition filed he had requested the Supreme Court to cancel and withdraw the UPFA list of National list members appointed.
In this petition he has nominated respondents, the elections commissioner, former UPFA general secretary Susil Premajayanth the new UPFA general secretary Viswa Warnapala and 45 others.
He had also added that nominating members who had lost outside the national seat to parliamentary seats is deemed illegal and also as another violation of human rights.
It is learnt that before the election his name too had been included in the national list of the UPFA.
