Fonseka deprived of his voting franchise
The leader of the Democratic Party Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has been deprived of his voting franchise this time also owing to his civil rights been removed as his name was in the voting list of the year 2014.His civil rights were restored in the year 2015 after the Rajapaksa regime was defeated.
It is reported that the Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka’s name been inadvertently entered into the voters list in the year 2014 when he had even voted for the provincial council elections.
However during the Rajapaksa regime his name had been struck off from the voters’ register and hence he had not been able to use his voting franchise for the 2015 January 08th presidential election,
In this connection his lawyers had appealed on the 16th instant yesterday to allow him to use his voting franchise as he had been subjected to a political revenge .The attempt had not been successful owing to lack of time.His attempt had proved futile and hence he was deprived of voting at this election too.
