Even without the polling card any one could cast the vote in this manner

In the forthcoming general election if any genuine eligible voter in the absence of his or her’s polling card could go the related polling booth after proving the identity could obtain a  fresh polling card and cast the vote.

This was disclosed by the additional election commissioner M.M.Mohamed.

But he or she should have a special identity card issued by the elections secretariat; identify card, a valid driving licence, a valid passport, a elder’s identity card or a pension identity card new or old.

On production of one of the above identity cards he or she would be issued a ballot paper to cast the vote.
