Faucy suggested to be the Prime Minister
Yesterday a strong letter was written to the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa by the
present President Maithripala Sirisena that on no condition as said earlier he would not be elected as Prime Minister in the event the United Peoples Freedom Alliance triumph at the forthcoming general election. In his letter he had categorically stated that there are several senior members in the UPFA who are suitable for the post of Prime Minister. Those were the general secretaries of the SLFP and UPFA Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Susil Premajayanth, Opposition leader Nimal Siripala De Silva,A.H.M.Faucy,John Seneviratne,Atauda Seneviratne and Homagama organisor Bandula Gunawardena.
It is learnt at a meeting of these seven eligible candidates all had consented to forego their prime ministerial portfolios by placing their signatures except for A.H.M. Faucy as he is willing to accept the post of Prime Minister.
In the circumstances it has been decided by the President Maithripala Sirisena to make A.H.M Faucy the next Prime Minister in the event the UPFA triumphs in the coming election.
