Shows plastic pistol and abduct girl over love case!
Police received a tip-off about a gang who came in a van and had abducted a young girl near A9 route in Halmillewa area, Thawalama, Kekirawa last evening (7). Accordingly, a motor cycle belonging to police was used to give pursuit to the van concerned and subsequently they were cordoned in Horiwila, Habarana and thus the girl was rescued
and 7 suspects were cornered in the process. A plastic pistol too was found in the van.The suspects were within the age range of 25 - 29 years and the girl was kidnapped with the motive of settling a problem that had sprung up relating to a love affair of a soldier attached to the medical corps of Palali Army camp, it was revealed. This soldier too was among the said group. The above-mentioned 23 year old girl was supposed to get married to another youth and because of the anger that welled up for having deserted this lover, a plan had been launched to threaten her with a pistol and subsequently to keep her detained, it was revealed. Kekirawa Police are conducting further investigations.
