Finally ... Wimal released on bail!
Mr. Wimal Weeravansha, leader of Jathika Nidahas Peramuna who was in remand prison for having committed a loss of crores of money by misappropriation of 90 State-owned vehicles inclusive of fuel expenses on behalf of his relatives and comrades during his tenure as Minister of Construction was released today by Fort Magistrate on bail. He was released on a cash bail of Rs. 50,000 and 2 sureties of 5 lakhs each after being in

Various types of phenomenon such as his fasting children being hospitalised, being fed with a glass of milk with the motive of pleading for bail was reported in the past and Wimal's bail was granted on the basis of his daughter's ailing condition and information forwarded to courts to the effect that she is preparing to appear for the O/L examination this year.
The MP's opportunity to travel overseas has been withheld and his passport confiscated by courts as well. The MP who is undergoing treatment at Colombo General Hospital had arrived in courts in an ambulance and after being bailed out has once more returned to hospital.
