Duminda Silva pleads guilty for offence of non-declaration of assets ... fined 3000/-

Former MP Duminda Silva who is serving a death sentence in relation to the incident of gunning down and murdering Mr. Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra arrived in courts today (6) in an ambulance with regard to another case against him. It was a case pertaining to the offence of non-declaration of assets for a period of 3
years.

In this connection he pleaded guilty to the charges in the presence of courts. This case was filed in connection with not having declared assets for the years 2011, 2013, 2014 during his tenure as Member of Parliament. The case had been filed by the Commission for Bribery and Corruption. As such, Colombo Additional Magistrate Aruni Attygala decided to impose a fine of Rs. 3000/- and in the instance this fine was not paid, a jail term for each month was imposed for each case.
