"We did not make any investment in Sri Lanka" -- Volkswagen Company officially informs

There was information mixed with suspicion to the effect as to whether the assembling plant of vehicles which was to be established in Kuliyapitiya yesterday is to engage in assembling productions of the German Volkswagen Company. In order to confirm this, Sirasa News First had taken steps to inquire about this from Mrs. Kartin Hohmann of the Corporate Division of Volkswagen Company, Germany. What she had said was that no
investment has been made in this country under their authority.

Prior to this, on the occasion when a Member of Parliament posed a question in parliament about this suspicion, the Prime Minister responded in brief saying that though the Chairman of 'Volkswagen' of Germany has consented to the investment in Sri Lanka he would not be coming right away and that Senok Company would be invited to make the investment initially and that later would join in with their production activities. Whatever it is, news reporter Namini Wijedasa through a Twitter message has informed that the German Consulate office in Sri Lanka has confirmed that so far the German Volkswagen Company has made no relationship with Sri Lanka in this connection. As such, this alliance between the Volkswagen Company and Sri Lanka has turned out to be a balderdash.

Though a clue was hinted in the beginning that a factory of this nature was to be established by them; while the Sri Lankan Senok Company which imported Volkswagens to Sri Lanka as its agent, there was not a single German that could be found. Under these conditions a suspicion has cropped up that an 'imitation factory' representing the letters WV is to be established in Kuliyapitiya for the purpose of fulfilling election promises. Therefore, an incident similar to the story of Chinese Satellite that the name of Sri Lanka was to be directed to space has taken place. The news broadcast by Sirasa News First today, from below
