Kulasiri Budawatta's brother, dance-artiste Thilakasiri Budawatta dies mysteriously
A driver of a car had met with sudden death within that car itself when the vehicle was travelling along the Colombo -- Kandy main road in Walakadayawa, Utuwankanda area, having succumbed to a heart attack and in the process the car had struck another car which had been parked by the side of the road.
The person who has died in this car which was on the move was the younger brother of reputed
dance-artiste Kulasiri Budawatta known as ' Suneela' and had been living in Gewilipitiya, Aranayaka. He was the recipient of 'Kala Bhooshana' Award and by name was Budawatta Yaddessalage Jayantha Thilakasiri Budawatta, 61 years of age and a father of 3 children. The deceased dance-artiste has commenced his teaching profession of dancing at Dippitiya Rajagiri Maha Vidyalaya and later after serving for a period of 2 years at Rahala Batahira Vidyalaya as the Principal had retired in the year 2014. He had been functioning as the Head of Budawatta Kala Aayathanaya in Gewilipitiya Niwasa. Mr. Budawatta had been involved in providing dance troupes for wedding ceremonies, Jayamangala Gee and Poruwa traditions.The police say that he had promised to provide a dance-troupe for a wedding ceremony in Lollegoda, Mawanella Road in Aranayaka some days back (31) and because the dance-troupe had not arrived in time at the festival hall he had gone in his car towards Kegalle in search of the artistes. He had suffered the heart attack somewhere in Walakadayawa area, Utuwankanda and had passed away within the car itself and the car had struck another car parked by the roadside and stopped there. Subsequently with the mediation of two officers of the Traffic Division of Kegalle Police Headquarters was admitted to Kegalle General Hospital in a car of a person who had come for the wedding ceremony. Kegalle Police Headquarters are conducting further inquiries.
