Sajith, Dilip, Prasanna, Dayasiri, Thondaman and Pavithra rupture election laws
The national coordinator Shan Wijetunga on behalf of the protection of the common properties
programme on behalf of the Transparency International Sri Lanka has through a media briefing held on the 17th instant had informed of several politicians who had flouted the elections laws to the elections commissioner.It is reported that three officers and a driver of the central Ministry of Housing and Samurdhi had left in a white van to Hambantota driven by a driver to organise an election meeting of Minister Sajith Premadasa.It has also been reported that these three officers and the driver had been provided with lodging facilities at an official bungalow belonging to the Salt corporation.
The National coordinator on behalf of the protection of common properties programme responsible for the Transparency International Sri Lanka had also reported the state Minister of fisheries Dilip Vedaarachchi had deployed personnel from the media unit of the Fisheries ministry for his election activities. This had been proved by showing related photographs taken in this regard.
The Chief Minister of the western provincial council Prasanna Ranatunga is also accused of making use of his staff in the media unit for election propaganda work and had been seen them in the Gampaha area. Here too the elections commissioner has been notified of flouting election laws with photographs as proof of his findings. The Chief Minister of Wyamba province Dayasiri Jayasekara too had been found to have deployed his members of staff attached to the Wyamba provincial council and campaigning with 25 mobile phones. The group of the Chief Minister had been communicating with the voters.This incident too had been reported to the elections commissioner with proof by the national coordinator on behalf of the Transparency International ,Sri Lanka under the protection of common properties programme.
Arumugam Thondaman who is contesting under the United Peoples Freedom Party in Nuwara Eliya district too has been found guilty and in this regard he too had been reported to the elections commissioner along with substantial proof.It has been proved that a stock of aluminium sheets worth rupees one hundred lakhs obtained from a relative son Sumal Perera of the Wyamba Provincial council had been distributed among the constituents by deputy minister Dayasritha Thissera.The related photographs had been showed as proof by Shan Wijetunga.
It is also reported that the former Minister and Member of Parliament Sabaragamuwa province Pavithra Vanniarachchi had med use of a old railway station premises in Ehaliyagoda as a party office. Pavithra Vanniarachchi too had been reported for breaking election laws. Similarly Minister Lakshman Kiriella had formed a party office for the forthcoming general election within the former office of the coconut research office premises in the building of the divisional secretariat office. This allegation as an election violation act had been reported to the elections commissioner with proof by Shan Wijetunga.
