Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of traffic Palitha Fernando has reported that a special dummy project is been formulated these days to trap the Policemen who tend to obtain bribes from those drivers caught for traffic offences.
It is reported that with the fines for traffic offences raised to Rs 25000/- it is the belief of police
higher authorities that the tendency to obtain bribes by some police personnel would be on the rise.It is reported that in this regard a programme had commenced for the traffic police personnel to make an awareness of this dummy project.In this regard a warning had been given that they would be tested by the dummy project was what the deputy inspector general of police had quipped.
It is reported and confirmed that with the fines for seven offences had been raised to rupees twenty five thousand would result in the emergence of disciplined drivers was what was stressed by the traffic deputy inspector general of police.In addition the number of accidents in the future would get minimized was what was said.
