Gayathri backs out from bikini and swim suit event at Beauty Contest saying it is contradictory to morality
It was Gayathri Dias the tele-actress and beauty-culturist who represented Sri Lanka for the Mrs. Top of the World Beauty Contest with the participation of 20 countries, held in New Delhi, India recently.
Though she did not win the crown there she was placed the 5th; but she managed to be victorious in
the Mrs. Talent event which she had chosen. Gayathri who refrained from participating in both the Bikini and the Swimming kit events in the competition naturally had to forego points for those two contests. She expressed her comments to a weekend newspaper about not participating in those rounds in this manner: "I didn't have a big hurry ... but I was able to become Mrs. Talent in the contest. I didn't take part in both rounds of the Bikini and Swimming kit events. Not partaking in those two contests becomes a problem in getting close to the crown.* Weren't you aware in Sri Lanka of those two rounds of competition?
I knew.
* Then why is it that you didn't participate in those contests?
I told the organisers of the competition that that dress does not suit the culture and the morals of our country and for that reason I won't take part in those two rounds. They gave me permission for it.
* One can't appear for those competitions by keeping modesty, cultural morality in the head, isn't it?
That's true. But I couldn't make up my mind to jump over those limitations.
