Husband's body claimed by three wife's ordered to be handed over to his mother
The additional Magistrate of Gampaha, Lalith Kannagara on the 16th had ordered the body of a person died in a motor accident to be handed over to his mother which was claimed by three legitimate wife's.
The deceased 45 year old businessman Makirigala Sarath Bandara had died in a motor cycle accident along Yakkala-Kirindiwela road when the motor cycle he was riding on had run off the road and
struck a lamp post.To claim his body three legal wives had produced married certificates.Hence the case was produced to courts by the police..
The first wife had via her attorney at law produced marraige certificate to claim his body. along with the mother of the deceased.
The additional magistrate had ordered the body to be handed over to the mother of the deceased.The magistrate had ordered the funeral to be conducted in a peaceful manner without conflicts at the Rambukkana,Pahalakotuwella public cemetery on the 17th instant.
The additional magistrate had permitted the other two wives also to participate in the funeral proceedings.
The mother of the deceased is from Rambukkana. She had sought permission from the additional magistrate to have the funeral in her family burial grounds which was allowed by him.
On behalf of the three wives attorneys at law Niranjan Prasad, MR Perera, Wasantha Gunasekera and Amaranee Mudalige had appeared.
