Former governor of Central Bank who was said to have fled returns
The former Central Bank governor Arjun Mahendran who is alleged to be accused and in the centre of controversy in the bond scandal in the Central Bank who was said to have fled away has returned to the country yesterday at around 4 pm via the Sri Lankan Airline UL307 flight from
Singapore.It was reported his several media that he had fled the country on the day preceding to the day the cope report on the bond scandal was to be presented to parliament.However it was learnt that he had gone to Singapore to attend to a wedding ceremony.
Although it was suggested by several members of parliament in the joint opposition that Arjun Mahendra should be arrested upon his arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, but such an action could not be acceded to as he is still only convicted of a charge by law and no warrant has been issued to arrest him.
Hence he had got into a vehicle and driven home.
