Speaker Karu's youngest daughter Indira passes away after a cancer!
Speaker Karu Jayasuriya's youngest daughter Mrs. Indira Jayasuriya Dicker breathed her rather early in life, yesterday unfortunately. At the time of her death she was just 40 years old. The reason for her death was the cancer that afflicted her for the last 9 years. She had been a past student of St. Bridget's Convent and Devi Balika College and she had followed further education in the field of Economics in the United Kingdom. Later having met Martin Diker there she had got married to
him and was the mother of two children. At the time she came to know (in the year 2007) that she was stricken with cancer of the breast, she was not a mother. After understanding that from the treatment she had undergone she had totally convalesced from her cancer of the breast, after some months her first child, a baby girl was born in 2012 under safe conditions through the IVF system of treatment and she had spent her time happily with her daughter. The couple had then thought about a second child and it was a baby boy who was born from the IVF treatment procedure. It was during that time newspapers in UK published reports that Indira had been fortunate enough to bear children by facing the challenge of the dangerous experience of the cancer.
However after about 7 months of begetting her second child she became bedridden with sickness. Signs of the cancer which was thought to have disappeared, once again raised its head. Whatever it is, because the tell-tale signs of the disease emerged after much of the duties expected of her had been performed by her for her second child, she had thus found a great consolation, she had told newspapers.
Time passed by gradually with signs that her life was ebbing away. Knowing that she was nearing her last stages she had even written her last will. She had also made a request that her final rites be performed in her home in the hamlet of Kentely Broomly in England. Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and members of the family have already set off to England to attend to her final rites.
