Tabs for every A/L student from next year

Prime Minister Mr. Ranil Wickremasingha mentioned in parliament today (27) that every student sitting for the Advanced Level in the year 2017 would be given a free TAB computer. Digital Minister Harin and Education Minister Akila Viraj had given a hint about this sometime before this and information has been received that this programme would be put in motion on
the aid given by the Microsoft Company.

As such, in lieu of the printed text books related to the curriculum, it is hoped that those will be supplied as computer e-book  file and to facilitate their use lessons will be made available inter-activated across digital screens. The Minister of Education revealed about a plan where 56 school classrooms would be utilised as Smart Classes and that it would be later extended all over the island. The Prime Minister also spoke that academic education for 13 years would be made compulsory for every child next year as a pilot project and that steps would be implemented to bring to an end the dearth for teachers within the year 2017.
