Singer Chilli Thilanka who was taken into police custody and was remanded because of an incident of reprimanding a person on the road recently, was released on a bail of 5 lakhs today by Kaduwela Courts. On that occasion the prosecuting lawyers requested that the accused be not granted bail, because if not, the plaintiff party would be prejudiced and added that he had previous offences too to his credit. To prove it, they
brought forward the issue of the 'Dengue inspector' video which went rounds over the social media some days back.

At the time officers who visited Chilli's house with the motive of protecting the environment from the dengue menace in the year 2014 and tried to gain access to his home, Chilli getting together with his mother had reprimanded them in harsh words and had tried to chase the officer away and this scene was recorded on a video. The video concerned was viewed by the magistrate who mentioned that it was a serious matter and that a separate case has to be filed against that offence. The defence in that instance informed courts that Chilli's mother had appeared before courts years before in respect of that offence and had pleaded guilty and had paid a fine and finished off the matter.

Secondly, lawyers of the complainant party had stated that a fallacious order has been affixed on the wall of Chilli Thilanka's house so as to lead the public astray. A photograph of the said notice which said 'No parking. By order of Senior Police Superintendent, Nugegoda' was produced in courts.

Hearing of these court cases would be inquired into in future and the Magistrate, Mr. Dhammika Hemapala, released Chilli Thilanka on bail after ordering him to appear in courts once more on next 24th.
