Suicide- Jayamanna  visits jail and meets Udulagama ... finally meets a politician also!

Progressive information is presently streaming in from investigations being conducted by Criminal Investigat with relation to Sergeant Jayammana who ended his life by saying that he was responsible for the murder of Lasantha Wickramatunga, it was reported.

Certain reports that were published to the effect that the name of Sergeant Major does not appear in the list of suspects in relation to the murder were false as
found by now and information has been revealed that he really was a suspect in the list and it has been observed that Jayamanna was frightened about this matter or else had taken this decision on another's instigation. The police have also found information that could be confirmed that he was someone who had maintained a close relationship with a popular politician and just prior to the day of committing suicide he had come to Colombo and had met that person.

Information has also been received that he had made use of the opportunity available for outsiders to visit the prison and had thus on several instances Sergeant Major Jayamanna has gone there and met Udulagama who was in remand at Welikada Prison and this Udulagama is the person he had made reference to in his final letter. The news that he was in the list of suspects who are to be taken into custody had been secured by him only when he last came to Colombo. He had then realised on that occasion that according to the current proceedings that were taking place he had no salvation as such. He had the following day committed suicide for fear of betraying others and information has been exposed that according to inquiries being conducted by criminal investigators that he had been directly involved in the Lasantha murder just as much as he himself says.

Whatever it is, no other evidence related to this murder has been destroyed because of this Sergeant Major's suicide and what instead has happened is that others whom he had associated with have been subjected to suspicion in the process.
