Lahiru Thirimanne to lead Sri Lanka 'A' team
In the third unofficial Test between the touring West Indies 'A' team and the Sri Lanka 'A' team is scheduled to commence tomorrow the 19th instant as a four day encounter at the Rangiri Dambulla International cricket stadium in Dambulla.
The two previous unofficial Tests were captained
by Dimuth Karunaratne. Owing to a personal reason has opted not to play.In his absence the SLC has nominated Lahiru Thirimanne to captain the side.In the recent past the performances of Lahiru Thirimanne was subjected to humiliation and an uproar in cricketing circles when it had been said for one run he had been paid Rs 57000/- However lately Lahiru Thirimanne was offered another last chance to prove his class and form in the ongoing unofficial Test series against the visiting West Indies 'A' team.In this regard giving him the captaincy reigns is also another chance for him to prove his mettle.
To date in this series too he had flopped with the bat and had scored 2,21,3 and 4 only in the previous four innings in this series.
