Mahindananda bailed out for Rs 10 million sureties
The former Minister of sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage was arrested for alleged accumulation of huge sums of wealth during a short period under the money laundering act.
When the case was taken up yesterday the 27th instant a bail
application submitted by his attorney at law was allowed on a cash bail of Rs 50,000/- and four body sureties amounting to Rs 10 million each as ordered by the Chief Magistrate of the Magistrate's courts Gihan Pilapitiya..For the suspect Mahindananda Aluthgamage president's counsel attorney at law Kalinga Indatissa and a number of other attorney's at ;law had appeared.
The former minister of sports is also alleged to have imported to selected schools and sports clubs carom and drought board and caused a loss of more than Rs 5 billion to the government.In this manner he is alleged to be a suspect under the bribery and corruption act.
This case also had been heard yesterday.He was allowed bail by payment of Rs 1lakh in cash and a body surety of Rs 5 lakhs as ordered by the Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitya
