Two patients inflicted with INFLUENZA AH1,NI1 fever die, no medicines in SL for other patients
It is reported by the health authorities that four patients have been identified with deadly INFLUENZA AH1 N1 fever.Out of them two had died.The remaining two patients are been treated at
the Chilw district hospital.

In this connection it has been disclosed by the All Lanka Nurses union via a notice that in Sri Lanka there are no medicines and other facilities in our country.
It is learnt that after a pilgrimage to India these patients have had slight temperatures. In order to obtain treatment they have got themselves admitted to the Chilaw district hospital.But according to hospital sources there are no drugs and facilities here to treat them.This has been a constraint for the hospital authorities.
When treating the INFLUENZA AH1 N1 fever the nursing staff need N95 type masks and aprons which are not available for their disposal.There is a dearth of gloves was also conveyed by them.
In addition the nursing staff had added that as when such patients are admitted there should be special wards and units to house them especially those who have returned from overseas.
They also had added that there is no system and plan drawn yet to transfer such patients to the IDH fever hospital in Colombo.
It is reported owing to the fact that the INFLUENZA AH1 N1 fever patients have been admitted to the Chilaw district hospital has caused a severe threat to the other patients and the hospital staff.
