Hereafter call 1990 for free prompt C(Paramedics) service—initially only to South
With the kind courtesy of the Indian government 88 fully equipped Ambulances and 20 similar Ambulances donated by a philanthropist Dr DVK Reb totalling to 108 Ambulances have been handed over to the people for a free service of attending to the sick before admission to hospitals as done in developed countries. There would be no cost for
transport also it is learnt. To obtain this service all what needs to be done is to dial 1990 and call for this service.This service has commenced in the south from today. During the month of August in about two weeks this service is to be extended to the western province.
It is reported that in the near future this service to \be expanded to other parts of the Island so that all sick persons could benefit by this service.
By dialling 1990 any person could have access to this service. To coordinate activities within this service 50 persons have been deployed.
It is reported that the staff, technical support personnel 55o Sri Lankan personnel have been trained in India.For this initial step US $ million 7.6 has been spent by the Indian government as the initial investment.
