Postmen to be given Scooters from Japan instead of bicycles to deliver letters
M. H. Abdul Haleem the Minister of Posts and Muslim religious activities had added that to all postmen who are engaged in the delivery of letters island wide are to be given Scooters
manufactured in Japan instead of the bicycles.This has been proposed by Japanese Company and to obtain to what extent these Japanese Scooters would suit our postmen two responsible officers from the ministry of postal services had visited Japan and returned after inspecting these Scooters.
The Minister had added that the related Japanese Company had agreed to send a few Scooters to allow the postmen to try out whether these Scooters suit them to be of an advantage in delivering letters.
If this proposed project becomes successful the ministry of postal services is hoping to purchase these Scooters on a long term loan facility. This was revealed by the Minister and had said that talks and negotiations have already been held in this regard.
