At a media briefing held at Borella the Member of Parliament had this to say:
On the last Vesak poya day a Buddhist statue about 2240 year old had been forcibly taken away from the national museum and damaged when it had fallen onto the ground.
As a former Minister of cultural affairs he had known that this expensive Buddhist statue was given a special place in the museum and had been given special protection .After it was damaged even the officers of the criminal investigation unit are not conducting an investigation. This is a very grave matter which should be taken to Supreme Court.
He had said that in this country an item like a Buddhist statue having a huge archaeological value cannot be removed without the President’s permission.
He had added that the curse of this matter will strike the government. This is enough for them to crash as this is a government without proper administration.
