While working like that I began getting involved in political matters from the United National Party. While being so engaged in political activities I contested for the Western Province Council in the year 2004. On that occasion I secured the biggest number of preferential votes and was elected to the Western Province Council. After that in the year 2009 I contested at the Western Provincial Council and after getting the biggest number of preferential votes once again I was elected to that same provincial council. In the year 2010 I contested the General Elections from the United People's Alliance and got the biggest number of preferential votes and was elected to parliament. I request that I be freed from this lawsuit and set free".
